My latest SA project pictures

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

Thought you would like to see my latest project in pictures.
Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt / .45 ACP 5 1/2"
I haven`t even fired this one yet. I bought it for a project to begin with.
I fitted a SS grip frame and Ejector housing assy. Replaced the springs with a Wolf reduced power kit and Made the grips.
I think it came out pretty fair. Possible BBQ gun for informal BBQ`s. :D

This one makes 12 .45`s in my collection. One can never have too many .45`s.

Chuck,
Not only do you do nice work, you take nice pictures. :D

Twelve 45's? Not enough. You need 18 more so you can shoot a different one each day of the month.-------------6

Love those....the red stain combined with the curl is perfect.

Looks nice. Have you thought about making the flutes and notches on the cylinder "silver" to add more contrast?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

3leggedturtle , That would look cool but I imagine it would be very difficult to do. Anything less than a perfect job would distract from the overall clean lines of a gun.

Beautifine, Chuck - Petey likey, especially the way your grips "pop".

Are you going to balance the LH view by either polishing the cylinder pin head, or replacing it with a stainless one ? And, maybe going with a stainless big-headed EJ rod, too ?

If some of your other .45's are stainless, you could always interchange more of the parts to see if you like the look.

At the very least, some day when someone looks at it, they can say: "Hey - I didn't know Ruger made guns as nice as that ! " ;) .

That's pretty.

... but not too pretty to use.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

If you ever decide to hang out a shingle let us know. I have a ss Super Bearcat and Super Blackhawk that could win an ugliest grip contest at the drop of a hat, and could use just such a treatment.

Thanks guys. At this point I am just enjoying this as a hobby. Making a job out of it would take away much of the fun.
Mescalero, Thanks, I hate to say this but installing those medallions is the easiest part. I have a 1/2" piloted counter bore that cuts a perfect hole in seconds. Just drill a pilot hole and follow it with the counter bore.
