New Business Venture
My wife and I are going into business again with the purchase of an established restaurant called the Village Inn in Middlebury, indiana. Posession is June 1 so anyone in the forum who happens to be passing thru is welcome to stop there. Ask for Eric or Sharon because we would like to make sure we meet any of you that stop in.

Re: New Business Venture
I appreciate the invite, though the odds are strongly against me ever getting to Middlebury, Indiana. But here's wishing you success and enjoyment in your new venture, Eric. And hope it doesn't interfere with getting some shooting done on occasion.

COOL!!! Good luck on your new venture. Why not post a menu? And if we're up that way we'll definitely stop in and chow down.

Re: New Business Venture
I figure I will probably see those of you that drive truck sooner than the others. The business is right downtown so semis have to park on the street but that is not usually a problem. Sharon worked there for many years as a manager and that is where I met her and that is where I had my first job many years ago.
This menu will consist mostly of Midwest comfort food and a pizza menu so come in for some good chow.

Re: New Business Venture
Good For You!!
My wife and I owned the "Village Cafe" a few years ago. Best time we ever had. Ran it for two years and someone offered us a very nice profit to buy it....SOLD!
But I miss it! Great fun with the waitresses and the customers.....The cooks...Not so much!
There are only three things important in a resurant
Real Clean
Real Friendly
Real Good Food
Do two of the three and you can make a nice living.......
Do all three and you can make a killing.
Your bathroom will say more about your food and cleanliness than anything else you can do..........Patrol it on the hour
If your menus are tattered and dirty, so is your food!
Nothing will keep customers away like nasty wait staff.......and nothing will bring them in like a friendly, clean and good looking wait staff.

Have fun! Good Luck!

Re: New Business Venture
Good luck and hoping your new adventure is profitable. May I suggest one item to place on your menu? Fried baloney sandwiches. Not pre-sliced thin baloney but sliced by the cook to 5/16"-1/2" thick, from a "chub". I think a bunch of "real folks" like those here on Levergunz.com, would appreciate that. I've found only one restaurant in Southern Oregon that offers good, thick sliced fried balonry sammiches...

I travel a lot with my job --- i hope i can give your restaurant some patronage some day on one of my trips!mikld wrote:Good luck and hoping your new adventure is profitable. mikld --- now your talkin -- just when i commented about healthy eating in another thread, you have to bring up something like that --i'll take mine thin sliced though
when i was a kid, my mom used to call 'em Bulldog sandwiches (she's from Georgia) -- basically just fried baloney on a hamburger bun with some velveeta sliced as thin as she could get it melted on top ---- on occasion, the bologna would be substituted for fried spam . Not an everyday thing, but maybe a once a week treat

Wish you good success and --- Gordon Ramsey came to a restaurant out here - didn't help. I will pass that along to a member in the Warsaw area - how far is that?

ironic that they call a processed meat product with more calories per sq. inch than straight bacon fat a "chub" --
