Quick Loads Update

Post by Mainehunter »

3.8 Version is out! Just got the call today and put in my order. I originally ordered it back in December but when they mentioned 3.8 was coming out soon I decided to hold up.

Been thinking about getting myself one.

I know it has a lot powders and jacketed bullets in its reference data, but how does it deal with cast bullets ?

Also how does it deal with throating ? Eg long throated chambers like 458 Win mag or 375 Win ?

It has a good number of Lyman, Lee, RCBS bullets and you can manually change length and weight from the default value to fit your actual bullet. So it is pretty flexible and you should be able to approximate most any cast bullet you have.

For throating, again you would manually enter a cartridge length value to replace the default value to fit your actual loaded cartridge.

You will get best results from QuickLoad if you measure your actual bullet and enter length and weight values in place of the QuickLoad default values; if you also measure the water capacity of your own cases and enter this value instead of the default; measure and enter your own values instead of defaults in all cases if you want the closes approximations QuickLoad can give.

I sure wish they would go digital and stop with the CDs. The $10 shipping for the CD is really out of line but when they have you hooked, you are hooked.

Well the program showed up today and proceeded to load it up on the computer. One thing I noticed there is a lot of powders listed that I never even heard of. Going to spend more time with it this evening and plug in some numbers.

My friend Mic McPherson helped to create all the data in this program, and he got royally screwed by the owners of it. Its still the best internal ballistics program going at present but I would be extremely hesitant to ever sign a buisiness agreement with them. They are not honorable people. At all.
