I felt like I hit the jack pot this morning

Post by Mossyoak1957 »

Stopped by an old country store Lancaster County, Pa this morning and went to the back of the store were they carry some odd and ends hunting equipment and low and behold they had all kinds of ammo on the back shelf. Remington 30-30's 150's, 170's 35 rem's... 300 Savage.... 270's 30-06's..... on and on

I picked up 2 boxes of Remington, 30-30 170's for $17.50 a box, almost felt guilty like I was doing something wrong.

It was like you see in the movies when you see something unbelievable and it has a haze around it and you hear the angle music, almost brought a tear to my eye...LOL..... well not really but you get the point.

Congrats!

Did you ever in your dreams think we'd be posting stories like this?

I know I didn't - at least not in conjunction with bad times. But then, maybe that's just what we're seeing the beginning of...

I know the feeling about hitting the jackpot. My local shops haven't had 30-30 for over a month now. Randomly checking websites, Cabelas had 30-30 150 grain Fusion for sale at "limited quantities ". Bought 5 boxes, and within 2 hours it was sold out. I was worried until I got the shipping confirmed this morning. It was cheaper than what my local shops would charge too. I just bought the rifle, so atleast now I have something to shoot out of it.

I checked Midway yesterday. They listed 36 different varieties of .30-30 ammo, 35 of them were "sold out, no backorder". The only one in stock was by Buffalo Bore, at $57 per box of 20.
My mind reader refuses to charge me..........

We're out of any .30-30s other than the Remington Accelerators. $7.99 a box of 50 is the new standard price for .22 LR (all we have is competition ammo). We can get some 5.56 and 7.62x39. No pistol ball ammo. But no .30-30 shocked me. I am so glad I reload (and hoard).
Sincerely,

Hobie
