Hi all,
I seem to remember reading about the removal of the Win 94 crossbolt safety and putting a cartridge head in its place, but am unable to find the thread using the search feature. I have a trapper that I would like to pull the safety out of. Could someone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks
Kooz

Re: Winchester crossbolt safety removal
There was an article here that some one did just that. I removed the crossbolt on a .307 Big Bore with the idea of filling it with a case head. Its not hard to remove, there is a roll pin and spring retaining it. You access the pin from the left side of the hammer cut out looking down on the gun. Once the roll pin is removed, the crossbolt slides all the way out the left side. Becareful not to lose the pin or spring, they are very small.
The more interesting part of the article was getting a complete lower tang from an earlier Winchester and getting rid of the rebounder. That really improves the trigger on the gun. If you keep the old parts-- you can return it to factory should you ever want to sell it.

This thread has what you are looking for down near the bottom; just ignore the part about lengthening the magazine tube.
