This just breaks my heart.

That's just a shame. He seemed like a down to earth guy.

I heard he was sponsoring a free event for wounded veterans and one of them snapped or something, shot him and a friend of his point blank.

Sad in more ways than one.

:(
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

This is not good. I feel so bad for his wife. To worry over him throughout his deployments and then have this happen. This is really sad.

I pray for his family.

I'm sorry to hear about another shooting, just seems too convenient to me.

Truly a tragedy for all involved, including the alleged shooter. A war is never really over, it seems.

My thoughts as well.

Highly visible pro RKBA folks need to keep on their toes and vet those around them at shooting events.

It's all to convenient to TPTB to both get rid ov an RKBA spokesman AND have their anti-gun media circus too...

Y2K ran into our bedroom this morning when we were getting ready for church to tell my wife and I the sad news. He couldn't understand how someone could take out Chris, and I reminded him of what it is like at a range, with others shooting all around you at the firing line. Wouldn't take much for someone with evil in their heart to wait for another shooter to run empty, then simply turn their weapon on that person. At a few feet, I don't care how good you are, you are in trouble.

As far as I know, Kyle still has a bounty on his head from his days in Iraq. My first guess was it was someone chasing that bounty, or mad at him due to their "religion", or some anti-war/anti-military nut. My next thought was it was a Robert Ford - Jesse James dynamic - someone just wanting to take out the American sniper with the most confirmed kills (to get famous).

Really hurts though to hear it may have been someone Chris was trying to help. So sad. You know the anti-gunners are just going to use this to further attack gun rights, especially for our veterans. :(

Worse, you know there are a bunch of anti-war/anti-military and islamists that are dancing around for joy right now.

I feel terrible for his wife and kids. He seemed like a good man. I read his book last year, as did Y2K. A true American hero. His family's loss is all of our loss, and he will be missed.

I bought his book after I heard Kyle being interviewed on a local radio station. It was a good read that gave credit to a lot of other people without thumping his own chest so much.

IIRC he was running a shooter/security school in Texas.

Tragic and my heart goes out to his family.

I'm betting the VA is going to forced to give up the names of veterans who are being treated for PTSD (or any other mental disorder) so they can be put on a list of people not allowed to buy guns.

Here's a link to the CNN article on the Kyle murder, not going to post it because it is the same old same old. BUT, if you want to lose your temper this morning, just try reading some of the "comments" after the article to see how the enemy thinks: http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/03/justic...html?hpt=hp_t1

You can bet the gun control blissninnies will add this tragedy to their arsenal of talking points. By 10:00 AM tomorrow you will hear someone on the news channels talking about the need to bar from firearm possession and access anyone who has been treated for PTSD. This of course will do nothing but drive more and more soldiers who really need help from seeking it due to the negative repercussions.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Chris's wife and two kids as well as his family; as well as to Chad Littlefield's family his neighbor that was killed also. I understand he was throwing a charity event for veterans at Rough Creek Lodge and showing some vets some sniper techniques when Eddie Routh, a vet with problems, turned on them. I sure we will find out more information later. The owner's son-in-law who lived on the ranch where my lease is worked at Rough Creek Lodge as a guide for years. It is near Glen Rose, Texas only a few miles from here. What a shame. RR7

Very sad and I too am very suspicious of the circumstances. Why? Was the shooter on any phycho drugs? Where has he been in the last 6 months.... etc. It just doesn't make any sense. Why Chris? Why the neighbor?
