Be sure to save the shotgun shell boxes so you have something to bring your doves home in. :D

We have a 3 acre field of sunflowers we're gonna bush hog hopefully next week !

I need to load maybe 100 12 gauge 2 1/2" shells for my W&C Scott 12 gauge . Wanna load maybe 50-75 shells for my 16 gauge 2 3/4" Fox AE and finally I already have about 125 shells loaded for my W&C Scott 10 gauge 2 7/8" gun !

That should be enough to get me thru the first saturday and Labor Day monday !

Well I might load 100 12 gauge 2 3/4" shells for the old Browning Superposed skeet gun or my Westley Richards 12 gauge game gun

It's supposed to be 8 of us hunting this field opening day . We will see what happens !

It has been years since I've been to a good dove shoot/hunt. So much fun, much more so when Dad was along, but that's how it goes, isn't it?

To the best of my knowledge my fathers never been dove shooting !
Don't think he ever had an intrest !

Now my maternal grnadfather and I used to go alot !

Matter of fact the W&C Scott 10 gauge I have now was the gun he used to take when we first went dove hunting . Later he bought a nice old used Stevens 330 12 gauge O/U . After his passing I gave the Stevens to a younger male cousin just because I thought he should have one of our grandfathers guns . Our grandfather had left them all to me because he felt my younger cousin wasn't that intrested in that type thing .
Anyway he has the O/U or atleast it's in Houston in his fathers safe as he lives in H....E....L....L or as others call it Los Angelas

Dove hunting is a blast when the birds are flying. If I'm not going to get to shoot I'd much rather be deer hunting, though. I usually miss way more than I hit when bird hunting, but it's still a blast (no pun intended..well, maybe a little). Unfortunately I'll miss out on the first dove season here in Sept. as I'll still be in recovery from surgery, but hopefully I can get out some in December.

It is also opener for resident goose so I plan to have my beautiful P Webley &Sons 10 bore SxS out for those in the am and then my Osborne 12 bore out later in the day for dove. I am loaded fo both and I agree with you Mike, I carry my shells in a shoulder shell bag and the birds on game carriers. I always look forward to the opening day.

YES YES YES I have already loaded BP loads for my Wesley Richards. I didn't hunt dove for years but after getting into sxs and hammer guns especially I really enjoy it more than I ever did with a pump or semi.

You know there's not a thing wrong with a "classic" O/U either !

Be it a nice old Browning Superposed , a Remington 32 , a Krieghoff 32 or if your pocket can stand it a nice Boss or Woodward !
Ah and let us not forget the oh so nice Fabbri guns from Italy !

A man that can shoot a SxS can easily adapt to an O/U , however those that grew up on a single barrel gun like a pump , auot or O/U may have troube shooting a SxS !

Maybe I'm one of the fortunate . I usually can go straight on the skeet or trap field just as easily with a SxS as with an O/U . But then I wasted 10 years of my life doing pretty much nothing but shooting clay targets !

Yes it is important to look good. With that fine double you're well on your way.
I haven't been dove hunting since the early 70's. It may be time to start again.

Thank you sir !

I have maybe 6-8 more not pictured !

But I really "NEED" a Parker 10 gauge hammerless of GH or higher grade and a nice hammerless shootable Parker 8 gauge !

To say nothing of a nice Parker in 28 gauge
