New chinese Go To Gun.
I picked this up last week after waiting 3+ months to get my firearm certificate renewed.
Cheap Norinco 20GA 23/4 26" barrel non eject single shot. It is all steel and wood except for the recoil pad. It shoots real fine and ain't half bad for £110.

Great little gun game keeper------I love those handy little 20ga singles.
and------------------
If things need a little more heat----------want basically a .454Casull only 100fps even faster than out of a Ruger Super RedHawk? and that's with only a 24" barrel on a shotgun(hope you can get some)So you should have around 1960fps
Shove one of these in her(verify gun will handle pressure)I think it should!(my 70 year old J. Stevens shoots em good)

----------here is the 454 Casull ammo (check velocity)

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
If I jump through a few more hoops I could get 20GA slugs but I've been told by the police I could not use them for hunting.madman4570 wrote:Great little gun game keeper------I love those handy little 20ga singles.

Someone say .454 Casull 7.5" handgun equal plus

To get my hands on .454 Casull I would need a firearm chambered for it first, can't just buy ammo here unless you have permission from the police.
Having firearms in not so jolly England is like walking on glass, even a small mistake or mishap and you can go to jail or at least never own a gun again.

Good looking Single Shot, Just wondering what Gun/Rifle Or Pistol can you legally own in England. Does Black-powder Guns fall under the same restrictions.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
In England we have two types of gun licence, shotgun only, easy to get or firearm (rifle) more difficult to get, if you want a shotgun and a rifle you need both but it don't end there, a shotgun must have a barrel length of 24" or more and be incapable of firing more than 3 shots. Rifles must not be semi auto or pump action unless .22 rimfire, modern pistols can be had at "great" difficulty for humane dispatch and are sometimes restricted to 2 shots, or if you are a military collector of historic weapons. No hunting or self defence allowed with pistols and no self defence with shotguns or rifles either.sharps1863 wrote:Good looking Single Shot, Just wondering what Gun/Rifle Or Pistol can you legally own in England. Cap and ball revolvers can be owned with a firearm licence but only for target shooting.
If you only own a shotgun you can't buy slugs without a firearm licence, over here the licences are called certificates (FAC) or (SGC) and cost £50.00 they last for 5 years and have to be renewed, the police require 2 referees and access to your medical history plus inspection of secure storage for guns and ammo.
This is just a brief idea of our gun laws, it would take me a week to type out everything.
Until the 1920s we had fewer gun laws than the USA, it don't take long to lose your freedom.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
Thanks Game keeper that gave me a better understanding what you are subject too in England. You are so right about it does not take long to lose your freedom. When you lose them, it is near impossible to get them back. Take care and Have a good time with your new shotgun. I take it since ammo is under strict control, there is no re-loading over there either or is that more special permits and license and all the bureaucratic red tape they use to discourage ownership.
One other thing I saw that you got a 20ga shotgun and not a 12ga ?

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
Looked at one, almost jumped on it. Did Norenco fix their soft steel issues they had? Their version of the M-1A they put out some years ago had that issue.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
sharps1863, reloading is pretty much unrestricted, we can easily buy slugs but if we load cartridges with them without them being on a FAC we have broken the law.
I reload for my 30/30 but mainly cat sneeze loads.
I was looking for a 16ga but the 20ga was real handy and looked well made.
jcw, I don't know how good the steel is, I guess only time will tell, but all the parts are steel, no plastic or pot metal.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
Do you think that might be a really, really close copy of an H&R?
Are you saying that the trigger guard it not plastic like it is on an H&R?

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
Rusty, the trigger-guard and forearm "hinge" ? is all steel.. I had a Rossi 28ga that was also based on the H&R action and those parts were plastic.
It has a cross button trigger safety that is also steel but I'm used to thumbing back the hammer as I mount.
Chuck 100 yd, a butt cuff is on my list, I have one for my .410.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
Well I don't want to mess with a cross bolt safety for sure. IMHO the one thing that would take any H&R and change it from a good gun to a great gun would be to ditch the plastic trigger guard and replace it with steel. There have been a few plans foe aftermarket choices to do that in the past but they have all fallen by the wayside.
You did have my hopes up for a bit there though.

Re: New chinese Go To Gun.
I have Cooey and a Iver Johnson single barrel shotguns that are all steel and walnut but not long after Winchester bought up Cooey they changed them to Alloy trigger guard and top lever with a plastic forearm hinge (we call that part the forearm iron).Rusty wrote:Well I don't want to mess with a cross bolt safety for sure. I know its done for reasons of economy but like you I would be more inclined to buy their products if they were made like the originals and pay the little bit extra.
