I have a Mills belt that I am having a hard time identifying.
No pics now, but here is my best description........
Appears to be 3 piece construction,
I assume it is canvas, strong heavy, olive drab color
center part has metal tabs on each end.
marked on brass tabs: the name MILLS in the outline of what appears to be a 30-06 cartridge.
The cartridge outline has a pointed bullet, so it is not a 30-03 or 30-40 Krag.
both tabs marked: PAT JAN 29 1901-MAR 29 1904-JUL 16 1907
there are 3 round, brass rivet holes in the middle of this section.
one section has 4 pouches for rifle ammo. puckered at bottom of each pouch,
brass?? snaps have an eagle on them,
appear to hold 1 or 2 stripper clips of 30-06 ammo.
end has two horizontal pouches, stacked on top of each other,
I tried 45ACP half moon clips, they do NOT fit well at all.
I assume these held 45 Colt or 38 Special ammo.
female buckle, longer than the belt is wide.
there are 5 metal rivelt holes, oblong in shape along the bottom, between rifle ammo pouches
all appears to be sewn and riveted together.
between each rifle pouch, the one oval and 3 round metal rivet holes.
other section the same, except the male end of the buckle.
condition is super.....no fraying, color maybe faded a bit, blue/green tarnish on the rivet holes.
what do I actually have here????
any idea of value??
Thanks all.

Re: need help identifying a Mills belt
that got me close.
with your info, I found the correct item.
US M1910 Mills Mounted Cartridge Belt
here is a link to a picture and info on the belt.
this one is a copy, but mine is original.
http://onlinemilitaria.com/shopexd.asp?id=4386&bc=no
The problem in finding out what this is......multiple ones
identified as this model.....show pics of "modified"
versions in which the handgun ammo pouches were removed.
Still have to pin down an accurate value.
Thanks for the help
