Five Star Steakhouse In Pendelton, OR
Best Prime Rib I've ever had....It's about six hours from the house, but, I'll go back just for the meal anytime. There was the Hamley Saddle Shop/Leather Goods store right beside it. Too bad it was closed, the stuff in the window looked high class.

Looks like a Great Fun place,wish it wasn't 3k miles away. for really Good Beef I bring it home from work. Im a Butcher and We sell Prime and Choice Beef.one perk of the job.

I go to "Logans Rosdhouse" in Chico, it is only bout an Hour away. For BBQ it's "Famous Daves" in Gilroy, bout 4 hours.

My house
Not to toot my own horn too much, but I'd rather have steak or bbq that I cook over 95% of the restaurants I've been to. Plus it saves money. I can feed me, my wife, and several friends for what it costs one or two people to eat at a steakhouse.
But, there are places I like to go....Texas Roadhouse (twin to Logan's Roadhouse) is pretty good for an average place. Ruth's Chris is a good higher end place. Y.O. Ranch in Dallas is pretty good also. They are high dollar, and they've got a great selection of wild game on the menu. For bbq, take me to the TX Hill Country and we'll eat 'till we both hurt. There are several awesome hole in the wall places around there.

Daughter's boyfriend raises prize winning Simmental cattle(so----we be eating good)
I like about an 18oz strip grilled on the wood pellet grill(Hammer's Hot One's pellets)and served on a heated stoneware plate with heated olive oil/crushed garlic--------medium/rare with helping of grilled cob corn/mushrooms
The women in our household mostly like the Filet(tenderloin)cuts (about 12-14ozs)medium-well

I tend to do my own cooking here in Indian Territory because it's hard to find a restaurant that serves good quality beef. Got to be prime and I like it warm in the middle but want to see it flinch a little when I poke it with a fork. You know, "a good Vet could save it".

I live in Nebraska where good steaks come from. But alas, I do not eat much beef anymore.
Used to butcher my own. But since 2000, have been eating Buffalo. Taste about the same, and is much better for you and fewer calories per serving. BUT now my buffalo have gone WAY up in price. Surpasses beef now. NOt sure what I am going to do.
In Lincoln, NE, The Steak House or Misty's
In Omaha, Johnny's, Piccolo's, the Marley Bone, The Chop House, etc etc etc
Thousand good places outside of those two cities.

Harris Ranch, I-5 & CA198, north of Kettleman City, CA; plenty of parking for your motorcycle, car, RV/travel trailer, 18-wheeler or airplane!

Not prime rib, but I never pass LaGrand with out stoping by NewYork Richies in Island City for a Phillie Cheese Steak Samich. They are the best.
Its a shame, but the only Prime rib in Oregon I've ever had that I thought was a notch above the rest was served in a place called the Spotted Mule in Bend. They use to serve the best rock salt rolled rib roast ever. Its been a half dozen years since I've been there last and was a dissapointed that it turned into a night club or some darn thing. No more resteraunt.
The truth is however its hard to screw up a rib roast as long as its not over cooked they are all good. It takes someting special to make one stand out as excelent.
The best I have ever ate was in Phonex AZ, I am not from around there so I don't have a clue what it was called, but I know it was on Camelback ave. right down town. It was a dark quiet place with leather furnature every where, and old geezers hanging out in sofas sippin scotch and smoking sigars by an open fire place. I went there with a few acquaintances from work related stuff and they wheeled out a whole dang roast in front of us Like 15ribs worth musta been a 200 dollar peice of meat,. Some old man about 105 years old started honing a knife in front of us shaking so bad I was afeard he was going to slice his wrist off. That didn't happen but he did eventually slice us all a Giant slab of the rib roast and serve each of us one, and it was the most juicy perfectly warm bloody mess I have ever ate, tender as could imagine and seasoned fabulously with coarse salt and cracked peper. served with a side of horse radish root he shreded right there. The waitress was not quite that old, prolly only 85 or so, but what a hoot she was. She was hanging over us pooring all kinds of spendy liqure for us to try cause she thought we looked like we needed it I guess. I don't think they charged us for much of the stuff. The whole place made me think I was hanging out in a '30's prohibition seceret club kind of place where people in the know relaxed with out fear. It was obvious we didn't belong, but the old folks made us feel at home in there secret place.
Only one other stands out as truly excelent, and I don't recal the name of the joint there either, but it was in Jackson hole in one of the yuppie bars, but darn it was good.

I did New York Richies on your recommendation a few years ago on one of my rides back east. It was all you said it would be!!

Elk steak first then a porterhouse steak from a 30 month old beef that was finished on grain and then been aged 21 days, I cut my own beef and game. danny

Any size, any cut (that I've had anyway) and melt in your mouth goodness. The last time I was there I had a 30 oz prime rib

Not long ago I was there eating and darned if Sam Elliot didn't come in and sit in the booth next to mine. Seemed like a nice friendly fellow having dinner with his Sister I believe, and not one soul bothered him the entire time he was there.

I'll second Stetson's on the Prime Rib. And if you're in the mood for someplace is really varied selection, I'd recommend the Buckhorn Exchange in Denver. Survey the menu... you'll get the idea. If you haven't ever sampled some their fare, you owe it to yourself to give it a try!
