The cost is ... daunting... :o

Very high drool factor, indeed. But I've had my eye on a couple of Belgian Browning Hi-Powers at the LGS. Always wanted one of those.

Current NRA Rifleman lists one made by Walther from Umarex in Ft Smith, AR - for $375 suggested retail. Dunno how available they are.

If they had it in stock, you could get it a little cheaper here:

A friend just bought one. He let me fondle it, but I haven't shot it yet. VERY nicely made. I think I have to make room in the safe, my 1911's all say they want a little brother.

I bought the Colt/Umarex/Walther "rail gun" and am mighty disappointed in it, trigger is over 7 pounds and shoots a foot low. It DOES function fine, over 500 rounds without a stutter, but am going to get rid of it and try something else.

Neat pistola. BTW, the price isn't as bad as the Kimber 22. Hardest part of getting used to my Kimber was that every time I picked it up, I about threw it through the ceiling. That light alloy frame confuses at first but it sure is a dream to carry.

OJ, they had an article on the Browning back in January. It's smaller than the Umarex, which is the same size as a standard 1911, I believe. The Browning is only 85% the size but is otherwise identical with no barrel link.

Held one and didn't like it. The 85% size thing just ruins it for me.

I've got a GSG 1911 and like it, but I want a Colt Ace. Now THAT is drool worthy!

I could have done without that information. Now I'm droolin' too!

Is this the first Browning branded product that's ever been made here? Wonder who's actually making them?

Besides the cost, the big question is:
Do you want a pistol that hollds 12, and very closely approximates the weight and size of a real 1911,
or;
Do you want a 3/4 scale pistol that holds 8, and weighs 16 ounces?

All things being equal. I would prefer the smaller, lighter pistol. Who knows if the accuracy of the Browning is equal to that of the Colt. Also, is the smaller gun as reliable? Can it go throug a brick of ammo without cleaning?

Those are the questions I will have to find answers for befor I would buy either.

They're made for Browning by ATI in Salt Lake City, same plant as the Buckmarks.

I want one too. I have a conversion kit for my 1911, but have never been impressed with it. A dedicated .22 1911 seems like the way to go. I don't think it will be the Browning though; too rich for my blood given the alternatives that are out there. I have been impressed with Umarex stuff so far. I may give them a whirl.

I have mine. Great gun. Not a single issue in the first 550 rounds of ammo. Pretty impressive for an out of the box gun. Accuracy was good. The trigger was well heavy! The single magazine stinks as it is fun to shoot so you want more mags. It is easy to handle, no hammer bite. Light and fun. It will be a great trainer for my children.

Pricey? Now with the commemorative K-Bar knife, yep... just did a search on GunBroker and looks like $495-595.
