I partially agree. Thinking outside the box is great. Did they have to make it so ugly though? I think it might improve the appearance a tad bit if it had a solid black butt stock instead of the AR type adjustable butt stock. I still wouldn't really like it, but it would be a little more tolerable, to me at least.

Agreed. While not my cup of tea exactly, the recent Marlin with the moderate big loop and light rail is conservative and stylish by comparison.
These folks at Mossburg seem to have no regard for the limits of cross species breeding. It's like a cross between a hamster and a lobster....
First thing that came to mind was Kid Rocks,
"I'm A Cowboy Baby"

I'm getting old. In my old age I find I long for the guns of my youth.
Revolvers and 1911's were the handguns of my youth.
I know them and I trust them.
"Outside the box" my maiden Aunt Maude...! The folks at Mossberg are thinking Outside their Brains.. The customers who might buy it are NOT the kind I want for neighbors.. Drive-by, gang-banger, bad-ankle Cowboy-wannabes would not be welcome in the places I frequent...

So all they need now is a ghetto fabulous, bootylicious girl in a camo g-string bikini and one of Richard Petty's hats to promote it at SHOT, and they could at least sell lots of posters, if not guns.....
Let's face it, they have learned from past practice that if you slap black plastic and rails on a gun it sells like hot cakes. Ruger and Taurus have learned the same thing. They're doing what companies that stay in business do - SELL PRODUCT.
I just wish they'd offer one in .45-70 for us traditional folks.
Mossberg has generated FOUR PAGES and two threads with comments about their new rifle. Ok, so most of the comments are negative... but still, what is they say about publicity... if they ain't talkin' about you, you're dead... or something like that!

YES !!! -- and also what Griff said about there being no such thing as bad publicity
and another YES YES YES for the BOOTYLICIOUS ! (Old Savage probably knows her already though,)
Had hopes that they had back tracked to the levers they used to make in the 70'&80's only to see that abortion.Puking on the computer is not a good thing.

Bother must edit because my internet conenction went down. Any way Buck I understand were you are coming from but think that in addition to the kooks and tacticools there will be a third crowd attracted to this weapon. Those who see it as a means of home defense.

Because everybody knows you must have a craptastic plastic stock and flash hider for HD.
I've made and sold items made of plastic and of wood. I'm here to tell you WOOD is a pain where pill won't reach to machine, finish and protect in a shop environment, where tupperware gets as much care as well, tupperware. THAT is the real logic behind this lego abomination from the maker's standpoint
I've seen injection-molded plastic stocks for leverguns, that follow the traditional lines and feel.. Don't tell me Mausburgh couldn't have used something like that on their new toy.. the "tactical" stock has too many corners and angles and projections on it to be really useful in a HD situation. Looks to me like it could get hung up on household obstacles too easily.
Ergonomics must be a thing of the past With some manufacturers... Along with common sense.

I say put a regular style synthetic stock on it, put a peep sight on the top and only put ONE, SMALL rail towards the front to attach a light. Add in a lever butt cuff from levergun leverworks and call it good. Load it with some of th 125 grain Federal Powershoks and we would have a real nice combination. Of course this is provided that it reliable. I think I would be more willing to try it with an old Marlin or Winchester.

Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes.
Just watch, Mossberg will make a few; sell a few. No one will want them. CDNN will buy the remaining stock and sell them off at a deep discount.
Then some gun writer will do an article, then everyone will want one, the prices will climb….
Better buy one as a collector's item/investment.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....
Grand Poo Bah WA F.E.S.
In real life may you be the bad butt that you claim to be on social media.
I have to wonder what the recoil force vectors are like, with that disjointed, dog-leg stock..? In the AR configuration, the stock is in a straight line with the bore, but this Mausburgh is a complete perversion of design... I hope all 17 buyers are ridiculously-happy with the new design, but somehow, I doubt it...

Maybe ignorance will be bliss? ??
If CDNN does buy all these in a year or two, they might price them low enough so a guy or gal can put a Ramline stock on it to replace the AR collapsible stock
The synthetic timber carbine was ugly too, now some people view them as "collector's items"

I thought beauty was in the eye of the beer-holder. Take more beers than I could handle to make that thing look attractive.

Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Paradigm Shift is hard on some folks! Mossberg is going to sell a pile of these things - just not to the folks on this forum.

I certainly hope so.
I wish Mossberg well.......they've been around for years.
I'm sure us older levergunners have all packed Mossys at the range & in the field.
Reminds me of someone taking a collectable 30's car and putting 2012 fenders and lights on it! What a fugly piece of crud. I don't wish Mossberg any bad luck, but I hope that gun dies a quick death before I have to see one in person!
Dear Buck Elliott, I agree with you that this "Mussberg" is pretty stinky. But how come you "despise" sliced bread? I love to make "Dagwood"(showing my age) sandwich's using rye bread and it is sliced but still good. I do like to go to the bakery and get an oval sourdough, break off a hunk and butter it, but I still love my sliced rye. White bread not so much. God Bless.

TRUISM: if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. So, my advice is: Buy more guns!
I thought the ballistic abortion was a Photoshopped joke when I first saw it.
Now that I know it's real I'm not laughing........another belly flop for a struggling American gun company.
Mossy tried to appeal to the AR/Black rifle group and the old legacy guys and missed the target on both.
Whoever is in charge of marketing at Mossy should be looking at new career options.
