It sits in the gun safe and i`m wondering how many of you guys would carry it and use it or keep it as new.
Thanks.
I have other Single actions, Ruger, but those Colts are so nice to carry.

Yepper buddy, i`m familiar with the loading of Colts but thanks for the reminder.kimwcook wrote:Just a tip, Pitchy and I'm probably not telling you something you don't already know. When you go to load, load one, skip one and load four, then pull the hammer all the way back and it'll go down on an empty chamber. That's the only real safe way to carry a Colt SAA. Like John Wayne said, you only carry five, but if you feel you're heading into trouble, load six. Oh, when you bring the hammer to half cock to load don't just put the hammer back down from half cock. Always take it to full cock and then down. Always take the hammer to full cock and then down anytime you pull the hammer back to check if it's loaded or anything else. At the least you'll scratch the cylinder with the bolt head if you don't. There's nothing like a Colt SAA with a 4.75" bbl. for packing. I think you'll enjoy it immensely.
Got one, but with a six in barrel6pt-sika wrote:If it were me , I'd sell the Colt and by a nice S&W 629 4" and have some money left over for other stuff !
Plus you can carry six in that and not worry about all that other stuff .
I bought a used 6" 629 barrel a year or two ago and put it on my 629 . Never did like the feel as much as I do with the 4" barrel . So mine has the 4" back on it and I sold the 6" barrel for a tidy profit .Pitchy wrote:Got one, but with a six in barrel6pt-sika wrote:If it were me , I'd sell the Colt and by a nice S&W 629 4" and have some money left over for other stuff !

PM sent bro, ThanksM. M. Wright wrote:Pitchy,
Don't bother trimming those Mag cases. Just gimme your address as I have a bunch of 44 Specials that I'll never use. Be happy to send them to you.
Oh, and shoot it. I have several old Colts and shoot all of them. Even have a pair of engraved 2nd gens that I have shot SASS matches with.
Target pistols! Kimwcook, thats got rabbit pie written all over it, squirl stew and pheasant roast too.kimwcook wrote:Yeah, they weren't target pistols, but the packability and pointability is the overwhelming attributes. Plus the history and aesthetics are cool. It definitely works for you and with some load development you can probably shrink that group to half or more.
Cool, see ya then.3leggedturtle wrote:Pitchy I'll be up saturday to help you shoot that ol' 44. I'll even let you shoot my 45/70 in return![]()

kimwcook wrote:Well, brother, it's not "New in the Box" anymore as you've shot it. So that being said I'd shoot it. I don't have a gun I won't shoot. I have some I haven't, but that's just because I haven't, not because I won't.
That's how the desperados of old did it.Maybe i`ll carry two or three.
I know the problem... and learned it ain't the gun's fault!Pitchy wrote:Thanks pard, considering i can hardly focus on the sights not bad.
