Leverguns Texas Summer Safari AUGUST 8-10th

Post by 86er »

If anyone is interested in the annual TX Summer Safari, post a reply here. This hunt is for exotics or hogs. A meat hunt is $350 and other exotics are available at highly reduced rates.

2 so far - we'd love to have you guys! RSY, yes you can get an axis doe for the $350. If anyone is interested in a trophy animal we can make that happen too for a price that is a real bargain.

Hopefully we can get another 3 or 4 participants

I was just on the last hunt with Joe, and for those who are thinking about going, it was a great time. If I had more vacation time, I would like to go again.

86er will treat you right! He gave us a REALLY great price on a red deer during the recent hog hunt. If you missed out on that hunt, don't miss out on this one. You will have a terrific hunt in a top notch facility.

Any Friday- Sunday would work for me. Count me in. If anybody from the Dallas area would like to go and ride with me let me know. Probably go down on Thursday evening and leave to come back Sunday noon. We're already running low on red deer and my wife said I could get some more. :D

Any idea of how it is to drive from SoCal?
I might drive out, what part of Texas is it?
This would be a good opportunity for me
to take my first big game animal and bloody
my 1908 30-30. Sharing the drive would be
good too, I'm thinking.

Heck bsaride, just load up and come on out. I know you would enjoy it. I was just there for the last hunt and had a blast. :D Or you could find you a good airline deal online and someone will pick you up at the airport.

Just looked at my calendar. If you are talking the weekend of Aug 1
thru the third, that would be perfect for me (as long as I hord the cash),
get paid once a month, can invoice Thursday, leave, arrive Friday evening,
Hunt Saturday, leave Sunday, arrive home Monday, go to Tuesday
meeting and collect paycheck.

Right now I'm gonna hafta say "Count me in!"

86er, I open for any of those.

How about the rest of you, what works best for ya'll? How about you bsaride and awp101, would that make it work for the two of you?

for me, early july works better than august dates. I have something on the 31st weekend, an annual event that is already paid for. If that does not work for anyone else, then thats ok, will cost a fortune for me to get down there for the hunt whether I drive or fly. If it works better for everyone else on that last weekend, then I can give up my hunt spot and arrange with 86er another hunt. Its all good

Here's what we have so far I think.

RKrodle Any date
EKrodle Any Date
bsaride can't do 7/11
rjohns94 can't do 8/1
RSY
awp101

That leaves 7/18 and 7/25 if I got this correct.

04Aug is my vacation time and I have no wiggle room.

08-10AUG works great for me but I might be able to do 01-03AUG IF I can get that Friday off and it's not my Sat to work. I need to check if my group is working 02AUG.

Whatever works for the majority is fine, I may just not be able to come out and play with y'all. That's the downside of non-flexible vacations and having to have the vacation schedule pallned by 15DEC the PRIOR year. :x

Works for me as well. I have decided that 2600 miles warrants more than a 3 day weekend
and will take a weeks vacation to cover driving 38 hours.

This will be my first vacation in 9 years and about the same since I went hunting also.

Had to sell all my guns in 2001 and first centerfire since, 1908 Marlin 1893 30-30
that I'm cleaning up and making usable, will hopefully give me my first big game animal.

Does it sound like I can't wait?

And had a ball. 2 days by my self on the freeway with no one to talk to (or listen to). It was Bliss. 8)

I am having to sit this one out, too. PapaBear, is your daughter still interested in going next year if I bring my daughter along to get her first elk? Joe, is it possible to do it with a couple of young ladies along and having a room for just them?

Joe, put me on the back-burner, for now. It may or may not work, at this point.

If it fills up before I know for sure, maybe I'll still come down and serve as step-'n'-fetch-it / gunbearer. More than the hunting, I'd really like to meet all you gents.

Well, you asked for a deposit and it got me thinking about
how much it would cost to take the trip. $1000 wages, $350
meat hunt, $400 gas = $1750 plus food and incidentals.

I am about 50/50 on whether I can afford to go this year,
Need a couple good months before I can make final commitment.
2 1/2 months into 2008 and it's not looking good right now.

86er, count me as a maybe until I know for sure which way
2008 is goin for me. As soon as I can confirm one way or the
other I will let you know and send in my deposit if I can make
it.

Keeping my fingers crossed!
