Dave is my friend since we were kids, my second longest friendship. We've not seen one another for 5 years since he lives in Boston. He has never killed a hog and wanted to experience some Texas style hunting. When I mentioned the hog hunt to my friend Jim, he couldn't resist. Both borrowed my 1939 Remington 141 pump in 35 Remington. The load is 200gr CL @ 2050 fps. Dave shot his pig on the front edge of the shoulder and it cut the aorta and jugular and exited a 75 yard shot on a 120 pound pig. It ran 50 yards leaving a good blood trail. Jim shot 100 yards and hit the boar in the shoulder, a little high. The bullet exited with a nickle sized hole and the boar dropped right there. It weighed 175 pounds. I love the 35 Rem and now these guys do too!

Nice rifle. Makes me think I may never buy a new gun again. I seem interested most in guns at least 35 years old or older.
I also want to say thanks for your Premium Bullet series I stumbled on recently. The penetration of the humble 30-30 surprised me and I'm a life long advocate. The 35 Rem seems more of a great thing. A fine balance of velocity, bullet performance, and penetration that comes from this power range and era. If I didn't have a 444 I would be on the lookout for a 35.
That had to have been very nice get-together with friends. And I have to say what excellent taste you have in rifles, Joe: I remember admiring it sometime before -- you had pictures of it on the pump rifle forum. And I think I have your rifle's twin being delivered here tomorrow, except its wood doesn't appear be nearly that nice. Real similar scope and sling set-up, though. Wish I could find some pigs to shoot, but I'll probably be doing good to find a coyote to try her out on.
