Ok here we go again, the mother of spinning wheels that started the industrial revolution in spinning.
The spinning Jenny could spin several threads at once, this one will spin nine.
Got a lot done today on it, actually spun a thread.
Flywheel is next.

Ever thought about selling these things to museums and such? They might like "working" examples of these historically important implements.

In building a spinning wheel for my wife, I read a lot of books. One of these that I thought was technical was actually mostly history, and the history of spinning was far more opressive than I had imagined. It consisted of forcing all women in England at one time to spin a certain amount of thread. The less mechanically complex wheels, great wheels required a woman to walk many miles a day to complete the quota. Interesting window into an earlier time.

Yes, i read a woman could walk 10-15 miles a day spinning so the Jenny was quite an improvement over the walking wheel. As was the Pendulum, eclipse and trolley wheels.

I was out at the county fair yesterday. No understand, this is the L A County Fair, so it is really just a bit commercial sales event. Anyway, in one very small area, tucked in a back corner, they had a number of women spinning. No to machines were alike. It's amazing how the human mind can take a single task and find so many different ways to accomplish it.
There was even one woman "spinning" with nothing more than a hand tool. Not fast, but she was getting it done.

Probably a drop spindle, spin it and draw out the wool then wind it on.
Getting there, flywheel is on, gotta grind in a belt groove then it will be ready to try.
Made a new crank that looks better too.
