The clash of technology (sometimes Redneck is good)

Post by adirondakjack »

One of my tasks is "taxi driver" ferrying my 85 yr old FIL to appointments. That's not usually a big deal, but coupled with the rash of appointments I've had lately, (let alone my work comiittments) the calender gets a little full.

We have a common, 12 page, "flip" wall calender in the hall near the phone used to keep track of these events. I said to my wife, "Ya know, they have calender apps for my (android) phone, but I don't wanna put all that stuff in the phone." It seemed like more of a chore than I wanted o deal with at the moment.

Her reply was classic "Hillbilly". "Just take a picture of the calender with your phone. Then when yer in the doctor's office, and they ask "is next friday good", you can look at it."

PERFECT ANSWER. The Redneck Calender APP. available for Iphone, Android, even crackberry. It's as easy as "point and shoot". Priceless. :D

My wife and I go to yard sales every Friday and Saturday morning. In our town, if you are having a sale, you post it on a cardboard box, then everyone puts their boxes out on one specific corner on Main Street so customers only have to look one place to find out where the morning's sales are located. Last Saturday my wife was out of the car writing down all the addresses (30 or so) on a tablet. Young guy comes in, walks over to the boxes and takes 3 or 4 pictures with his little digital camera and away he went.

Generation gap strikes again.

A few years ago I was hunting, and it found me...actually followed me around as I was moving slowly and quietly thru the woods for blacktail.....finally, I stopped and it came down to a lower branch and "chatted" to me for about fifteen minutes....I kid thee not. I finally got creeped out, and continued hunting. The next year, in about the same spot, he came down again, and I took this pic.

That's the last time in those woods, but now there is one that lives around here somewhere, and several times it has swooped down close to my head as I am out checking the mail or something around dark.....gives me the shivers...especially since I read up on that a little.

The Sqamish are close to you, at the price of ammo these days.
Take a couple boxes of ammo and ask to speak to the medicine man,
may have different conotations with northwest indians.
It would really freak me out.

I've never chatted up an owl. But I have entire conversations with my dog and he has never said a word. Funny thing is though he gives me almost that exact same look! He is a standard Poodle and may just be smarter than me though! :D

Looks like a Barred owl, I had a run in with one back in fall. They are also known aas a Crazy owl.
Mescalero, sometime when we can talk I'll tell about a spirit owl I saw years ago in the Glades.
To stay on topic owls can help us remember things also.
JerryB II Corinthians 3:17, Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The owl in Mescalero culture has significance perhaps better not discussed on a " family friendy " forum.
But now that two Brave members have come out, there is this coyote that I converse with on occasion.

I've hooted in a few barred owls over the years, while trying to find roosted turkeys. Had lots of them return my call without coming in. It's cool when they tell you your calling sounds good.
