I found that Rossi has thinned down the stock ejector quite a bit compared to the older guns. Its not unlike what Steve recommends in his video, so I did not need to do any radical reshaping of that part.
The trigger on my gun came from the factory with zero takeup or creep and breaks like the proverbial glass rod at 5 pounds, and that was just fine for me, so I left it as is.
For the most part, I stoned all the sharp edges on the bolt, and I thinned the front quarter inch of the extractor by about .010 because it was sitting a touch high and not grasping the cartridge rims well enough to suit me. I replaced the ejector spring, and the mag follower with Steves metal one, and put it back together.
Like Steves says in his video, its a good one.
I also got one of his bolt mounted peeps that replaces the safety, but it fit loosely because of the location of the notch that the pin secures being lower than the pin hole in the bolt. I turned the sight bushing 90 degrees and notched it by hand with a swedish file and it mounted up nice and tight. After playing with it a while, it became clear that the location of the safety was off center in the bolt quite a bit, and because of that, I would have had to have the front sight way over to one side, so I removed the peep. Too bad, because it is a quality part, and was looking forward to it.
I discovered that my barrel is drilled and tapped for a scope mount under the rear sight, and Rossi sells a mount for the gun that only costs $14, and my vision is not that great anymore (thats why I wanted to put a peep on) so, I ordered the base from Rossi and I already have a mini red dot for it. I think it will make my shooting experience better with my old eyes.
Picture is not too good, but heck, if you seen one Rossi, you seen em all.
