OT: A Prayer For Our Kiwi Friends, Please

Post by Pete44ru »

There was a devastating 6.3 earthquake yesterday, that has killed many people in metropolitan Christchurch, New Zealand (South Island), to say nothing of the destroyed buildings and infrastructure.

NZ's 2nd-largest city (pop: 350,000) is now a lot of rubble

I know we have had a board member or two from NZ, and would like to say a prayer for all, there.

Prayers up. Those of us that live in earthquake prone areas understand that we get no warning. You can take precautions, but when it happens, it happens, and you have to deal with whatever comes.

Prayers for all those who may have been affected by the earthquake. I raise a meat goat breed which was developed in NZ and I have made the acquaintance of some families there. Hopefully there will be few casualties and little damage to all the fine NZ people and their country.

I've been deeply saddened with the tragic loss of life with this earthquake and I pray for of the people of Christchurch .

Aussies have a unique connection to New Zealand in the spirit of the ANZACS. I have taken pride in this spirit coming to the fore as the Australian Government immediately despatched rescue teams, other personnel and equipment to help our KIWI friends.

It's been a terrible summer in New Zealand and Australia, mother nature is not happy.

Yes sure those poor folk in Christchurch, prayers up.

I met a nice couple from Christchurch years ago in Wales when out on the bike. I often wonder about them.

Pete,

Thank you for posting this. I've only heard from one of my cousins (several times removed, as she's descended from my Great Grandfather's brother. I've been getting emails returned or just undeliverable... so I imagine some infrastructure is down.

Any prayers you can provide for all the folks of Christchurch are certainly appreciated... I was born in the South Island myself... and love the place and the people. A very magical place, with much going for it.

In case you find it in your heart to donate to the NZ RedCross, you can do so and receive a T-shirt here: http://nzheartschch.bigcartel.com/.
