Sizing from .452 down to .430
Gentlemen,
I have a large quantity of .452 bullets I would like to use in a .44 Mag. Can I size them down that much? In a Saeco lubrisizer?

Re: Sizing from .452 down to .430
I don't know about the SAECO strength, but sizing .452" to .430" in a single pass may be a little strenuous for bullet and machine. I had a series of 5 sizing dies made and hardened, progressively sizing .452 bullets down to .429" (4th die) and finally to .427" (5th die) if need be. I screw the dies to my Corbin swaging press for leverage, but a Rock Chucker or similar will do the job. If bullet is cast, I lubricate them in a Lyman LubriSizer after sizing down. If bullet is jacketed I turn a cannelure on them using the Corbin tool.Paul Jenkins wrote:Gentlemen,

Good luck.

Sizing bullets from .452 to .429 is not practical.
The lube grooves will disappear and the bullets will lead badly.
Trade them with someone or sell them outright.
Melt them down and recast .429s.
Buy a .45 and shoot them.
Send them to me and I will use them.

Hah....mebbe size them down to just .435 or so, and use them in all those over-bore .44 Mag leverguns that won't group with .429 bullets... ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

If you size them at .452 with lube, then when you size them smaller the lube grooves won't disapear the lube will preserve them.

Per Lee Precision....you're push'n the envelope as I was told by them not to squeeze 'em down more than .007" and do it in steps.

Like the good Doctor says, buy one of the model 92s and have fun.
