I assume that it's a .45-70, but how are the markings? -Model 1886- behind the hammer? Patent dates on barrel? Clear photos would help. :)

Rifle doesn t belong to me but to a fellow from a Canadian site that I frequent. He stated that he was overall pleased with the quality of the rifle.Caliber is 45/70.On the tang behind the hammer is model 1886.

Nice looking piece. It appears to have taken a couch hostage.

I've wanted to see one of these for the last two years, and finally got a chance on Saturday at the Chantilly, VA gunshow. Taylor and Company had one at their booth, hot off the presses. Beautiful rifle, and lock up was tight as a bank vault. Fit and finish were excellent. Price is stiff at just under sixteen hundred bucks, but it sure felt good in the hand.

That is a pretty gun, but at $1600.00 it makes me glad I got my Browning when I did, I wonder why it is so much less in Canada then here in the US?!
I do like the color case hardening though.
