I've lurked here forever and finally decided to join the forum. I've enjoyed the discussions here for a number of years and I've learned a lot about history and Leverguns.
I especially enjoy Rangerider's historic ranger photos. My GG-grandfather on my Mom's side was a Ranger and his father was the company surgeon under Capt Hamp Cox's company in the early 1870s. On my Father's side, my GGG grandfather was a Ranger in South Texas during the Civil War. Our family has deep roots in Texas, dating back to 1824.
I own two leverguns (a Marlin 336 in .30-30 and a Marlin 1895 in .45-70) along with quite a few other firearms. My passion is shooting MILSURP bolt guns (as you might tell by my username) and my 1911. I also have a passion for military and Texas history.

Welcome! You should get along well with Charles as he's another Krag lover.

Welcome to the fire. Pull up a stump and sit a spell. Spin a yarn, ask or answer a question or two, or just plain jaw a bit.

Wecome. I thought for sure we'd be hearing about a Winchester 95 in .30-40 Krag.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.
Re: New member - Howdy
Sorry - don't own one (yet). That is on my list however.

Well howdy! I'm a Krag man myself but mine are Norwegians in 6.5mm. I need a Springfield Krag and you need a lever gun in .30 US!
Thanks for joining in.

Re: New member - Howdy
Just now saw your name on a post tonite. I have an old 30-40 Krag that is inreal fine shape for 111 years old. My grandson bought it and came dragging it home a couple of months ago and said happy birthday. He got it for $200. We looked up alot of sites but not a whole lot that helped. we did get it stripped and cleaned up, even figured out how to get the bolt out and back in. The barrel looks real good, all 30 inches of it.
Can you tell me what the little lever on the left side of the bolt is for?.I just need to get to the range with it, ammo is hard to come by.
Thanks for any help.

We've had a few new guys sign up lately and I thought you were one of those so I didn't open the post. I apologize for that and I want to add my welcome. As you've lurked here for a while you know it's a neat place to spend time.

Welcome to THE Forum. I wouldn't know a Krag unless someone said, "here, look at my Krag." Pics, pics, and more pics!

Thank you. I do enjoy shooting them. Even though the Krag is sporterized, it has to be my favorite. The work was done by my grandfather in the 1940s.
