OT - Pretty far OT project of mine

Post by Griff »

As you may recall, I drive a truck... (& yes 86er, I haven't forgotten our deal either)!

Well, this past weekend I found myself at the compnay shop... with time & materials for my project. So I got 'er DONE!

Having bought this truck in 1999, I'se lil' tired of looking at the rubber floor mat in the cab! It had several cracks and was lookin' none tooi good for the wear. So I ripped it out!

Along w/someone to supervise me, started on installin' a new floor:

It was supposed to be pre-cut & drilled, but took almost a full day to layout and plan the actual installation.

After getting all the pieces cut and fitted around like searbelt riedowns, shifter column, dimmer switch & pedals, actual installation only took about 2-½ hours. Several more hours to reinstal seats & trim... even if it was in the shop, it was 97ºF!

A little jaunt to Wal-Mart for a color-coordinated rug around the THRONE and we're complete!

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!

Nice job!! Hope you have a boot brush and a welcome mat to clean your feet before you get in. Driving barefoot is frowned upon in some areas. You could always have outdoor and indoor footwear.

Nice job! I just have the rubber floor in my Pete.
I keep the drivers side swept out and I Armor-All the passenger side, Made the mistake of Armor-Alling the drivers side and the peddles exactly once.
I like a clean truck, I just have a day cab but it's home 10 to 14 hours a day.
I had to take a strait truck for a quick run last week, and when I got back I told the boss to go take a look. It was disgusting food crumbs and pop spilled all over the floor the seats used to be gray now looked black. Told the boss that if my cell phone had fallen on the floor I'd have left it and bought a new one. I thought a hazmat team was in order, and to be paid for out of that drivers last check.
Drove a few different trucks last week when mine was in the shop, None were as clean as mine. Most were tolerable.

I must admit that I have never seen a hardwood floor in any truck I have driven or came in contact with at work. I like it…

Looks nice Griff. I'm with Pete driver, I'd be happy just to have a sleeper. I picked up a load of water around the corner from Griff's terminal in Groveland today. I got there early and had to wait 2 1/2 hours. It sure would have been nice to be able to stretch out and take a nap instead of leaning over against the window in the day cab.

Headin to Miami in a few minutes.
