Late last evening, just as they were closing, I finally spotted what I wanted in a local funshop

GOOD, since that gave me time to prepare some trading stock.....

This morning, after a little horse trading involving a Ruger NV - I ended up with a ca.1957 Model 99EG .300, still sporting 99-1/2% blue, 100% CCH, w/98%-99% wood, and a pristine bore.

I-am-a-happy-camper.

I'll be receiving my prize into my hot little (OK, not so little) hands in about a week - but it looks exactly like this one on Joe Salter's list, except mine has a Williams peep sight installed in the factory-prep holes atop the rear tang/receiver:

I'm pretty pumped, about this trade - and I'll get some pics of the rifle I'm getting (and hopefully a range report) in about 10 days.
