.38SP trim to length

Post by cavebob »

I seem to get almost endless life out of Win .38SP +P cases - just discarding occasionally at the first sign of splitting at neck
The cartridges are fired in a Marlin 1894 chambered for .38SP not .357mag loads are mostly +P
The cases shrink over time as expected
Most are now around 1.135" ie less than recommended trim to length
Anything to be concerned about here?

Thanks

Bob

Not as long as you properly adjust the bullet seating/crimping die.

Thanks Hobie - this was my feeling
Always sort by length after 5 reloads and use the longest groups til they shrink to the next group length down
Consistent case length matters as my strong preference is for crimping with seating die rather than the Lee crimp die
