I like it. It's symbols from an Alaskan tribe. They decorated their canoe paddles, houses, and furniture the same way. I can see how it would fit perfectly in some households.

'Course, in the good old days [like, before guns] wearing those 'colors' would get you killed by anyone from any other tribe just as quick as inner city gangs kill today.

Looks better than 95% of the carving I have seen on several "customized" models.

Stocks are cheap to replace. But not for the money he'e asking.

It would look better without the gold trigger and with CCH on the receiver and some aging on the rest of the metal... 8)

I think it's awesome. :D
That's an original piece of art, and I'd love to know the story it tells.
Personally, I don't feel that any gun, or any other tool, should be "queened". They should be used, and personalized if desired. The "Mine's more factory perfect than yours" approach doesn't appeal to me at all.

I think its okay, but I wouldn't pay near his price for it.

Gives it character though.

I think it is neat, actually. I wouldn't pay that price for it, but I admire the craftsmanship that went into it and would like to know what it means to the man who carved it.

I think it's great. I'd love to have it. People have always decorated their weapons and tools. Why do you think old flintlocks had tons of brass and silver and other geegaws on them?

Poor guys would paint their guns for decoration. Eric Kettenberg used to have a great flintlock on his website that had really beautiful German/American folk art figures painted on it. It was a copy of an actual colonial era small bore flinter.

I'm sure this fellow had a lot of lonely Alaskan nights to work on this thing. It's awesome to me.

Well the story behind the art would be neat to hear, if there is one.

The carving is hard to do and that took some time/patience to accomplish.

I would much rather have that than the milsurps I see at the candy store that have been literally whittled down by some moron.

The Tlingits are an Alaskan tribe. Many of the Pacific NW and Alaskan tribes share similar-looking motifs with the South American tribes, but these are distinctively Pacific.

It's not for me but I can appreciate the work that went into it. I'd like to hear the story behind it. I can see where it could be worth a considerable amount of money one day and this one should be looked at from an investment perspective not for the firearm itself but for the Native American artwork which is obviously Alaskan/Northwestern in nature. Really amazing work. I Googled the Tlinget tribe and came up with some interesting information. The more I think about it the more tempting it becomes.

Actually, I'm kind of relieved....

After reading "Marlin carved up" I thought that Remington went ahead and
broke the Marlin company up into a few smaller companies, y'know, like one company specializing in leveractions, another specializing in .22's, and yet another company specializing in bolt actions...

Glad it was just a guy who went crazy on a single rifle...

It just seems to me if someone personalized a rifle like that, they would keep it or hand it down to a relative. A lot of time went into that, but like Old Savage said, Not for me.

Kinda like decorating your car with pink and yellow poka-dots making people take notice, guess for some it ain't bad.....but not in the circles I'm accustom to. Demure and and good taste fit into my aspirations, not loud and obnoxious. Then again...to each there own. Heck of a way to cover up a ding though.

With a new stock set it would be nice. The old one could be split for kindling.
