OT-Old fort Worth, Texas Police Photo. (1900)

I was looking for some information on "Hell's Half Acre" in Fort Worth and ran across this old police photo. I have a group Original that is a little earlier along with one that is a photo of six officers but I have never seen this one. It is fun for me to run across information or photographs of Joe Witcher. He was a deputy sheriff in 1877-78 then went on to serve on "Long Haired" Jim Courtright first police force in 1879. He went on to be one of the longest serving LEO in Fort Worth history. I have his gold deputy sheriff badge, 1879 police commission, Chief of Police and City Marshal's Badge, two original photos and a 1894 RR Pass. Running on to history like this is great fun for me. Joe is the officer second from the end on the front row going right to left. The Man standing to his right is City Marshal Rea. He was this first person to get to Courtright after he was shot and killed in a gunfight with Luke Short in 1886. I thought y'all might want to see the new one.

Looks like most used the pocket carry method. I only see one with a gunbelt strapped on. Or perhapse they have em in holsters on their pants belts under their coats?

The man 2nd from the left front row in a light colored suit looks very familar to me from other pics I've seen in the past. Don't know where or what but I'm certain I've seen him before ???

Mutt, I don't have his name but I think he is a retired officer because he is in earlier group photos. They may have put him at a desk job.

The old guy with the beard, second from the left bottom row, gave me the impression of being an old Confederate Colonel. That was the first thought I had when I looked at the picture.

There are a couple other guys there that just don't fit. Top row left wearing the white shirt and straw hat and the guy at the top of the pic leaning against the building.

By and large a group of men to keep as friends, not foes.

These pictures have kind of inspired me to see about shooting a modern one on the courthouse steps. I'll have to see how the powers that be would feel about us displaying long guns in such a shot.
