Ghost Ring question.
In lieu of the gunsmithing needed to install a Williams receiver sight on a Win. 94, my friend is considering a ghost ring sight from XS sight systems because it utilizes the existing pre drilled holes on the top of the receiver. Does XS or anyone else make a threaded ghost ring to allow the use of the screw in apertures such as the Williams or Lyman?

Yes. XS Makes them.
If you call XS directly to order, just ask them for that type of ring.

Thanks. I just looked through their catalogue and didn't see one, that's why I asked. I may just be blind, but I didn't see it anywhere.

There's another "no gunsmithing" option.
Williams makes both a FoolProof and a 5D receiver peep sight, which utilizes the two rear scope mount holes atop the Winchester Model 94 angle-eject.
They are (surprise) the FP-94AE, and/or the 5D-94AE.
Unlike the XS, which will require a much higher front sight blade to zero the rifle due to it sitting so high above the receiver; you might be able to achieve zero with your issue front sight blade height using the Williams peeps.
The reason is that the peep crossbar of the Williams 94AE peeps rides BEHIND the sight base ILO atop it, in the lowest position.
I mounted a 5D on a Model 92 (uses the same sight as a M94):

Re: Ghost Ring question.
I have a threaded XS ghost ring, so they made them at one time, at least. I'd email them. It's possible not everything is in their catalog.
Keep in mind, when you install an aperture, there needs to be room for the larger diameter at the back of the aperture to fit. On one of my XS sights I needed to take a dremel to it, to cut off part of it so the aperture could go into the threaded ghost ring.

Why not a 50-state secession?

Very interesting! I have an XS ghost ring set on an old 336 and it is nice and fast with plenty precision for up close around here, but it would be nice to have the option to reduce it sometimes.

You can avoid this problem by using Williams long shank apertures.PaulB wrote:I have a threaded XS ghost ring, so they made them at one time, at least. I'd email them. It's possible not everything is in their catalog.

Brownells carry them http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=2607 ... _APERTURES
They have the same 7⁄32" x 40 tpi as standard Williams apertures.

Yes.. XS makes the ring staffs that are threaded. I had some extra staffs, so I just bought the correct drill and tap and drilled one of my extras out and taped it. Works fine.

You can also avoid this problem by buying on of Dr. Skinners screw-in apertures. They will fit an XS sight when the stem is screwed all the way down because of the small diameter of the outside disk.
