Texas Rangers with lever. Old Photo.

Post by rangerider7 »

This was taken at a bridge going over to Oklahoma in the 30s. That is Capt. W.W. Sterling standing in front of the sign. Capt. Tom Hickman is standing to his left. I think Capt. Sterling is holding a "94" trapper. What do you think?

Yup. I'd say that bridge is CLOSED, boys...

I'm not bright enough to figure out what the entire sign says. What was the dispute about? Obviously no one was getting across that bridge!

Dang! And that was a good-looking bridge, too.

Not sure if its the same bridge but when I was a kid we used to go up to Durant from Dallas and went through Dennison. There was an overhead suspension bridge that we used to cross the Red River that looked alot like that. Once when we were coming home they had a huge blockade at the bridge with State Troopers. They were stopping every vehicle and searching it. Seems they had a big prisoneer escape from the pen up near Stringtown.
