A good .30-30 cast load

Post by 1886 »

I thought I would share this load as it has shot real well in a number of .30-30s. W/W brass sized on RCBS dies with a .3045" expander. CCI-300 primer, 25.5grs of 2495, and an M&P 173grFNGC .309" #311041. This bullet is fairly hard. Bullets are seated to crimp groove and I use a Lee FCD to apply a healthy crimp. OAL is 2.550." This load runs right at 1550 FPS adjusted to the muzzle and has been consistent in a number of .30-30s. Accuracy has been excellent in three Marlins ( two micro grooves) and two 94s. Hope someone can use it. 1886.

YES !! The 311041 bullet is a good one and will shoot good with a number of loads.
My .30-30`s like 18.0 gr IMR4198 at 1590 fps. and the 311041 in wheel weights and CCI 200 or Win WLR primers.

Enjoy!!

Good stuff. Your group is about what I have come to expect with the load I detailed. Is your rifle an SC model? 1886.
