Sometimes you just can't advoid buy another gun, New 1886!

Post by Lastmohecken »

I think the stars or the moon was just right and it had to happen. I really need to not be buying anymore expensive guns, but sometimes it't just unavoidable.

I went into a local gunshop today, to sorta see if a certain mint, unfired Browning commerative 92 was still there, and it was. I had seem it a few weeks ago and figured it was probably sold by now, but it wasn't. The price was $699.00 plus tax. And the action was butter smooth, and I would probably have put it on layaway but I got distracted by an old friend that I hadn't seen in years and ended up leaving without putting any money down on it, figuring if it had hung around that long I still had a little time to think about it.

Now, as luck would have it, I decided to stop at this little gunshop, owned by a friend of mine, on the way home a drink a coke and shoot the bull. And as soon as I come in the door I am blindsided by a new arival in his shop. It was a High Grade Browning 1886 Carbine, on consignment. Of course my friend knew I would probaby have to have it, and the trap worked.

Of course if I had of already put money down on the 92, I could been saved but as it was, I was helpless to resist, as I was fresh out of 45/70 leveractions, and was wanting a Browning 1886 without the new safety and rebounding hammer stuff. I ended up promising to give him $1200.00 for it out the door, and made me take it home without paying a penny down, and the trap slammed shut.

Here it is.[imImageg][/img]

Your so excited, you forgot to put in the right pic! (I see you fixed that! :D ) Thanks OK, we are happy for 'ya. I remember when I used to get excited at a new levergun but nothing was as exciting as that '94 Canadian Centennial my Dad gave me in '68 when I was 14.

She sure is a beauty and will hold its value well, not to mention your '86 will take the most powerful load of all of the 45-70's made in leveraction. I know, its debatable but the Browning has the extra weight that the Marlins and '86 exlw don't have so it makes it easier on the shoulder.

Thanks,

It's a little fancy, and I would have been happy with a plain blued one, because this one's going to get shot and hunted with, but I do like the sharp checkering on it, as it feels a little more secure in the grip. I guess I will just have to live with the flash from the fancy plating and engraving.

I just sold mine at auction. Got 1400 and had 1150 in it which included transfer fee and shipping.

They are beautiful.

Still have my standard model which I'll have till my dying day.

Real nice. I had a USFS Centennial model for a while. I sold it to a collector. I am a shooter/accumulator so it went to a better place. They are stunning. Have fun. 1886.

I bet you were excited at 14 to get a Canadian Centennial. I know I sure would have been, I was stuck with using my dad's old swedish mauser till I was about that age, then finally comming up with a standard post 64, model 94 Winchester Carbine.

It was unfired when I got it yesterday, but tonight, I made it home before dark, so I had to try it out. Unless I miscounted, it will hold 7 rounds in the mag and 1 in the barrel for 8 rounds. That's a lot of firepower!

Anyway, it shoots great, and the sights seem to be regulated pretty good, at least for 300gr factory loads. The action was smooth, and recoil was very mild for a 45/70, I guess the extra weigh helps soak up a little more recoil. It seems to kick a lot less then the Winchester Extra Lightweight I used to have or the Marlins I have owned.
