Favorite .300 Savage load

OK you guys that have been reloading for the Model 99 and the .300 Savage, what is your favorite bullet weight and powder for a good all around load, for nothing bigger than deer.
I have heard how accurate these rifles can be, do most of them shoot best in a certain bullet weight range?

So far mine seems to like 165 gr bullets. It is a toss up right now between IMR 4895 and RL15. Middle of the road loads should be giving me around 2500 fps. Hopefully when I'm finished tinkering should be getting around 1 1/2" groups, good for anything I hunt out to 250 yds if I do my part.

My 99 likes the 150Gr Speer in front of 40.0Gr of IMR 4895.It shoots 1" groups pretty consistently. Should be in the 2500 FPS neighborhood.That load is good for anything I hunt in WV !!!!!!

180 gr RN with R15 good for elk and deer around 2400 fps. danny

My favorite load is the Remington 165gr Corelokt on top of 42 gr of RL15.

Thanks guys, it looks like anything from 150 to 185 gr so far!
I have some IMR4895 & H4895, never have tried RL15.
I noticed in my reloading manuals that IMR3031 is listed, has any one tried it?

My 99 likes an RCBS 30-180-rnfp gas checked cast bullet ahead of 34-36 grains of 3031. 1 inch at 100 yards all day long. Tom
