Wife's First Firearm

Brenda and I are out of the truck for a few days here in Oklahoma City. One of the things I wanted to do with her was to take her to a gunship since she has never been to one as they don't exist in her part of Canada.

In short, she found it exciting. I had promised her a gun of her own and she decided on this Charter Arms "Pink Lady" .38 SPL.

Awesome Gun for the little women DBW! That will do the deal if ever needed be. Prayers up that she never has to use it that way,but only for her pleasure. Nice choice!

Say what you will but I think women are more visually oriented than men. E.g. I think they pick up ASL more quickly and spot game more easily. We sell every one of those "colored" guns in a couple of weeks be they pink, lavender, or ???? and always to the ladies. We know the cartridge and gun will work to keep her safe so all is good.

PS - I've been to Sudbury. They mine nickel there, right?

Went to the Nickel Mining Museum. The only other thing I remember is that I had the nearly the worst Chinese food ever there (the restaurant was right next to the hotel). I had to go to Tim Hortons to get something to wash the taste out of my mouth. Yeah, that's it...

Pink does not suit my taste, but if Brenda likes it, more power to her.

Since I've owned a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog for over 30 years, I guess i might have a higher opinion of the brand than some folks do. IMO I think the lady made a fine choice.

Now give her a few boxes of ammo and take her to a range and have fun.

Several family members have used Charter Arms .38's for their first CCW guns. In my case, I only had a Super Blackhawk, and so that was my CCW handgun for awhile, but I soon got a Charter Arms bulldon (44 special). I've used many different ones over the past 30 years, but come back to a Charter Arms .44 special again...

I found out a long time ago that a woman will buy what she likes for her reason and that's enough. I bought my wife a S&W M60 once and she turned it down. She likes her Charter Undercover better. She just likes the looks of it better. You can't argue with that.

I think it's that Mars and Venus thing.

Great choice! I always recommend a 38 revolver for about 99% of people who ask me that question. No thinking involved---aim, pull trigger, shovel

Good choice Brenda, and welcome to the States.

My wife called me last nite and we discussed several things... including the overflowing status of the safe... She said, "...well, let's sell a couple of my guns. Which ones...?"

I told her, the Colt 2nd Gen Presentation model... she said, "... one NEVER sells a Colt!"

I said, her Rossi side-by-side 20 guage shotgun... she said... "no, might need it for those pesky crows..."

I said, her Rossi Mdl 92 levergun... she said... "...What... the gun I won all those trophies with... you're kidding, right?"

I suggested the EMF SA in .38/357, 4-¾... she said... "... what the first gun you bought me...?"

Then it was the Davis .25Auto deringer... she said... "... what the first gun I won as a prize...?"

So she then suggested that she'd talk to the boy about buying his own safe so mom & dad could have room in theirs for all their guns... his needed to move out!

Buck, it'd take more'n a Charter arms pink .38Special to get me to trade!

DBW -

I'm guessing you/your wife purchased this revolver from a gun store. If that is the case, you/your wife had to fill out the standard form. Knowing how you feel about this (from Bruce's CCW post), how'd you reconcile doing so?

Not trying to be a smart-alec - I honestly want to know. I feel the same way as you do about these intrusions on our liberties.
