OT-New gun, no lever!

Post by marlinman93 »

Well I finally received the Rolling block that Jeremy pointed out at auction last December on Gunbroker. It was mismarked as a #5 Rolling Block, and not the correct #2 that it is, so it went very reasonably!
Turned out to be a very decent gun, with a beautiful bore in .32--20. Pretty rare to find a #2 in centerfire, so I sure appreciate the heads up on this one Jeremy!-Vall

Well it didn't reaffirm my faith in UPS! It was sitting on my front porch when I got home from work! Anyone who walked by could have simply walked off with the box! Those guys in brown are priceless!

Great Rifle and I'm GREEN with envy. I have looked all over the UK and can't find a decent 32-20 anywhere!

Thank you all! I had let a close friend talk me into trading my minty Rem. #2 in .22LR to him for a Win. 1885 Hi Wall with double set triggers. I love the Winnie, but I sure missed the #2 Roller, so I was happy to find this one, even if the condition was less.-Vall

No reason you can't convert to .38 Long centerfire! It's the same dimension as .38 RF, and all it takes is modifying the breechblock. Simply plug the old firing pin hole, and rebore to the centerfire position, or find a centerfire breechblock, and convert it.

guys in brown

Post by brucew44guns »

I can't even imagine the BS that would roll downhill if a UPS driver left a firearm on a front porch, no signature, no adult to accept, and some deranged lunatic got hold of it and walked into a school or mall looking for mischief of some kind. Once the story unfolded on the nightly news, Sarah Brady and Chuck Schumer would be having orgasms, and nothing would ever be the same again. I'd hate to be the driver.

UPS constantly leaves packages on my front porch, unless they are shipped "adult signature required". The seller on this #2 was a "greenhorn" and didn't use that signature service.
There's no way a driver even knows what's in the boxes, unless someone is stupid enough to mark the outside. This one at least came in a box from an old flourecent light fixture.

I love seeing pictures from your fine collection.... Nice rolller. Rolling blocks are one of the simpliest and finest single shot designs.

I recently built a rifle from an old salvaged rolling block military action. Barreled it to 50-90. Great fun to shoot. I took a large Bull Buffalo with it a couple of winters ago.

Enjoy your new toy.

Thanks 3855! I'm still dying to know more about that gorgeus Winchester pictured at the bottom of your thread!
