I set up at a military collectors show this past weekend with a buddy. He and I used to do that show regularly, but I moved from that area last year. So, I stayed the weekend with him and we set up a few tables for old time's sake.
One of the best things about setting up at a show is the deals at dealer set-up. One guy a couple rows over had a nice shooter-grade Winchester 92 SRC in .32-20. Good bore. Wood may have been refinished. About 50% or so metal finish. Had a replacement rear sight, but the price was just over $600 with very little dickering. I wanted that gun something fierce, but have been trying really hard to not spend money on guns right now until my business picks up again. It was made around 1920 and was in solid shooter condition.
I left it on his table with much regret. The next morning, it didn't last more than 2 hours. I saw a guy handling it but not putting it down. I went over a little while later and it was gone. I was relieved that it was gone, but sure hope to run into a deal like that again when I have the cash that I can wisely spend.
Just wanted to share. Anyone else see any deals this weekend?

Raleigh, NC. I used to live 10 minutes from the venue and would set up with my friend about once a year. The show is run in January, June, and September. It is a small show, but has a lot of interesting stuff - always worth attending.
One guy walked in with an 1866 Winchester. The dealers flocked all around him, but he wasn't there to sell it - just gather info. He knew he had something valuable.
One older couple sold a Belgian copy of the old top-break S&W 44s. It was in .44-40 and they had a FULL original box of ammo from the 1890s. The dealer gave them $300ish, I think. The ammo was probably worth close to that by itself. That dealer pays extra to always get the set of tables at the entrance and nothing of significant value gets by him if he can get it for a song. He does turn up some nice stuff, though.

When I go to a show, with selling/trading stock, I always at least double my asking price for those guys.
They now know enough to leave me alone, so I can cruise the show unmolested.
