hi, folks,
Several members reported their experiences with the High-Standard Flite King slide-action shotgun in an earlier thread I started. I went and picked one up, and am now wondering how to remove the barrel/tube magazine?
I understand from what research I could do that many did not have readily-removable barrels. However, there was a series that did, and
it appears from schematics that mine is one of them.
It has a knurled knob at the front end of the mag tube which unscrews to a limited extent; it holds a hangar fixed to the barrel in place against the front of the mag tube cap. There are 2 spring-loaded rounded pins (detents?) that protrude slightly from the sides of the mag tube about 1/2" behind the front end, but they are limited in how far they can be depressed and don't seem to make it possible to remove the mag tube.
I figure I must be doing something wrong. One would certainly need to be able to put a 3-shot plug in it, and so far, my efforts won't allow that.
Anyone know how to disassemble this sucker? It's a very nicely-made piece, and the pump action is incredibly slick.
Thanks for any help!
John

Gordylew, thanks very much! Right after I posted, I decided to be a bit more forceful with it and also figured out the barrel had to rotate. (I grew up with side-by-sides, never fooled with pumps much...) It was glued together by 30 years worth of congealed oil, so it took a little effort to break it loose -- after cleaning, it now is slick as a whistle.
Thanks for the help!! Looking forward to taking it shooting soon!
