Well I was sitting on the couch reading one of the books I got from 86er and came to the chapter I was anxious(sp) about, shooting with the "wrong" eye.
I am a "righty" with a dominant left eye; hasn't bothered me yet mostly 'cause I had no idea. When I shoot the rifles, to me, it doesn't have any real effect. When I shoot the shotgun it is no big deal either 'causeI smash that ol' left eye shut like a steel trap. Apparently I am missing out on some stuff when I do that.
Another key element that was not readily obvious to me was the fact that I find the bead THEN the target, instead of the other way around. To be honest I never grasped how different the two ways were utill tonight when I tried it on a wind-chime in the kitchen.
Wow, much easier to look dead at the wind chime and pull that sucker up to meet it, not even the same ballpark as the way I have been, always been, doing it. But hey, I see two barrels now?
Now part 2 of the Happy Dance, I took some advive from the book and placed a peice of stotch tape on my shooting glasses where my left(off) eye was looking at the front sight and POOF! GONE! Now I have the gun mounting and pointing with little effort and only one barrel to look at, in like no time.
It may sound stupid, but my entire shotgunning world has just been turned comletely upside down tonight in a matter of seconds. Makes me wonder what else I've been missing out on.
Then I proceeded with the Happy Dance!!!
OT- Happy dance for the shotgun

Funny how such a simple little thing can shift perspective like that.
I bet your shooting improves a lot!
I was taugght to treat the gun as an extension of me, it was my eye, and my will.
I was told to aim my "eye" and put it on the target.
Not that I'm a fantastic shot on birds, but I have made some decent shots on woodcock.
Nice to keep to the basics.
