The stickies and announcements have a purpose
The stickies and announcements are there to help folks on the forum. They contain information of interest to the posters here. Lately I've noticed a number for "help desk" requests that would be resolved if folks were to actually read the information in the stickies and announcements. How can we get folks to look, read and learn? I don't know. We don't put them up there just to clutter up the place, honest! I guess it's human nature or???
OK. Off the soapbox and back to work...

I guess folks just ignore them because most site's stickies are just a bunch of BS, but I've found that some really do have some handy info on them.

You can lead horses to water, but it hard as heck to drown them...
Perhaps you could get more people to at least NOTICE the stickies if you made the "titles" in either a huge font, or bright red letters, or something? Just trying to think of things you could maybe do without too much trouble (I don't know the constraints of the software you have to work with, though).
Thanks for all the efforts, anyway...!

I went into a "Sticky" one day. Took me two days to get out. First, I'd get one finger free and then another finger would get stuck and I'd have to start all over again AND then I got a foot stuck and errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, oh nevermind.
Seriously, the stidkies and announcements do have some good info but I think most of us are just too impatient to use the regularly. Faster in our little pea brains to ask than to seek.
I promise!!!!! I'll do better in the future.

I understand the "If all else fails, read the directions" mentality. It's the "I refuse to read directions even when all else fails" that I'm coming to terms with. Neither Hobie nor I mind helping folks. If we did - we'd not be moderators. I'm just trying to figure out how to help folks help themselves. A lot of the assistance requests are for items covered in the stickies and announcements. And usually from folks just signing up (or attempting to do so). Such is life. I'm not complaining, just trying to figure out how to help folks in a more efficient manner.
