Re: Lever Action Speed-loader
I've seen a couple variations on that idea. Looks easy to use and make. I haven't used one though.

Don't know as how I'd like a speedloader for my lever actions. Heck, part of the fun of using a lever action is thumbing the rounds in one at a time.

+1 I kinda' like the sound it makes as each cartridge goes through the loading gate.

Interesting, I don't think it's anything that I would use but I always like to see the do-it-yourself ingenuity.

Howdy Bruce,
I've made similar loaders myself for a number of years..
But I cut a groove just back from the front of the speedloader for a rubber O ring.
It stops the rounds falling out but flexes when you push the ammo into the carbine.
Rubber rings for faucets seem to work best - about # 8 for .38's and # 10 for .44's.
They cost about $4.00 per loader and I make them for my club members.
I use a router to cut the channel in the tube - made a small jig to keep it straight.
I've thought about using copper pipe with brass fittings to sell to the "Cowboy" competitors - for the antique look.
Kirby.

Yeah, but I hate the way the loading gates SCRAPE MY BRASS...Modoc ED wrote:Don't know as how I'd like a speedloader for my lever actions. Heck, part of the fun of using a lever action is thumbing the rounds in one at a time.

I need to get out the Dremel and do some serious smoothing...
Besides, there IS a satisfying 'click' when my Ruger's box magazine with the 240 grain gas-check reloads I use for plinking locks in to place, and I have spare ones in my pocket with 180 grain JHP's in case of coyotes, and 240 JSP's in case of whitetail.

I'd rather have my instant choice of FOUR rounds of THREE different types, than have a speedloader for a tubular magazine...one reason I like the 'ugly' Ruger.

Re: Lever Action Speed-loader
creative gizmo...
I always thought the whole big advantage of the lever action rifle was that:
the magazine can be topped off... on the move... with the action closed.....
we dont call it the "cowboy assault weapon" fer nuttin"!

always press the "red" button--- it's worth the effort and the results can be fun
