Right place, right time. Ricky and I went to see a Whitworth Express Rifle. We couldn't find the one we were told was there but stumbled upon another. The dealer wanted $850 - $200 more than I can get one for. We then found a CZ- BRNO Safari Special that was $699. I was seriously considering the BRNO but hesitated because it had a reverse safety (toward you is off, away is on) and it was over 40 years old with some wear and tear. At the last table of the last isle we were deciding whether to leave or try negotiating the price on the BRNO. Right in front of us a guy opens a gun case and asks the dealer if he is interested. It is a brand new, never fired Remington Custom Shop 798 Safari Custom in 375 H&H with the box, paperwork and accessories still sealed in the bags and grease on the bolt. The owner has paperwork showing that he purchased it in November '08 for $1295. His brown bear trip was cancelled when his hunting partner had a heart attack. I know this gun well because my friend Joe at Cabelas gun room told me he could get me one for $1099 + tax. I negotiate this one for $750 ( I had $710 in my pocket and Ricky had $40). It followed me home......
That was great luck. Congratulations! Having friends around is often a big help, isn't it?

My brother used to use the Sierra 200 gr FP in his Ruger #1 .375 H$H Tropical. That thing was a deer slaying machine.. If you want his load (run to about .375 Winchester velocities), I'll ask him for it...Nice rifle...you can always load down...it's tougher to get faster though....
I have a pair of Interarms Mark X "Whitworth's" in 375 H&H MAG and 416 REM MAG . The actions mine started as are the same as what you just acquired ! Actually both of mine were originally purchased as 375 H&H MAG barreled actions and the one was rebarrled later to 416 when I acquired it !

My friend Mark uses his old Model 70 375 H&H as his primary moose rifle. He switched from a 7mm magnum because that one's combination of high speed lightweight small diameter slug made the meat too bloodshot.

That's classic - I can just see you guys pulling your pockets out and a yoyo, a marble or two and a pack of bazooka bubble gum coming out with the money.
Congrats on a great purchase! That is classy and you got an excellent price on her.

Meditate a minute or two on the direction in which you move the hammer of a hand- or levergun. Then you will understand that the safety of a Brno is quite logical.
Nevertheless, the Remmy looks really fine.
