scope set-up 1894c

I have an 1894c marlin in .357/38spl. I'm not seeing the sights real well as I'm getting older (you know what I mean!) I have a nice 2 1/2 power scope on hand and was wonder the best set-up for this. What rings, mounts etc? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks

If the scope is a regular eye relief riflescope, and not a longer eye relief scout or pistol scope, then the Weaver one-piece rail the fits all Marlin 336/1895/1894 will do, along with a set of one of the dozens made that attach to the Weaver rail, like Weaver, Talley, Warne, Millett, etc, etc.

I've dealt with them numerous times over the last six years or so, w/o any issues whatsoever.

I have the Weaver 1-3x on my 1894c, with the low Weaver rings. Works great, in fact, the balance is better than the same scope with a 336.

The extra weight also helps my shooting I think, less muzzle jump.

I'm going out to shoot it right now.

I actually like the see-through rings made especially for Marlins, although most folks don't seem to. Maybe I just have a giraffe-like long neck or something, but I hate scrunching down to a low mounted scope. Maybe it is genetic, because my son has the same preference; probably just a matter of what you're used to.

The deer didn't laugh at my son's high-mounted scope on his 1894, and the larger bell would have needed 'high' rings anyway.

Even with the scope covers on, you can still see the flip-up/backup peep sight on my 1894. (the funny looking bulge to the left is a laser sight - come to think of it, the deer didn't laugh much at that one either).

That's the base I have. I only use it for ammo grouping tests. Got it from Walmart.

Is that bipod one of those plastic ones that clamps over a barrel (or magazine tube) when opened up? I've always wondered why bipods don't get put on leverguns very often. There's times I'd like to have had one.

Yes, it's a simple clamp on type. The other leg is out of view behing my left arm. I think it's made by Ramline. Being made of plastic, it doesn't scratch the bluing.
