My last purchase of 2007

Post by The Lewis »

I was passing through Kittery and stopped by the Trading Post and found a sweet little Marlin 39A. Well used, I think the vintage is around the '50's maybe earlier, case colored receiver with straight grip and was real cheap due to the fact that someone drilled and tapped the barrel for a side mount weaver scope. Killed the 'value' of the gun but I think it will be a great little shooter.

The scope is off and the 'smith at the post had a marlin buckhorn they put on for nada, it's tight and smooth.

I know, I know, pictures! But I still need to take the time to figure out how to post them. I will I promise...

I'm quite happy with how the year ended!

Friend , There were 39`s sold by sears that WERE factory D&T by Marlin for a side/barrel mounted scope. I have seen a couple in the last year that I believe were origional. Marlinman may have more on this.
Enjoy!

That's interesting, but found out a couple things. Internet search for Marlin serial numbers (3454100 puts this little thing at 1906. The other thing is it is missing the ejector spring!

Anyone know where I can get an ejector spring for this?

Unless the Trading Post told you the spring was missing, I'd say it was up to them to provide the spring. Give em a call and see if their "Smith" might not have a spring on hand that will work and if so, will they mail it to you.
