OT: A member says goodbye

Post by J Miller »

I got a very sad email yesterday from someone that I consider as a friend.
In the last several years he's suffered so many personal losses that would probably overwhelm most of us. And recently he's lost a friend and an aunt, and had to put his 19 year kitty to sleep because of feline Leukemia.

He asked me to tell his forum friends hi, said he was recovering slowly but surely from the back surgery and hoped to start physical therapy soon.

Then told me he had left the forum, actually having Hobie remove his name from the membership roster. He said there was too many idiots and buffoons trolling for attention on the forum now. I've seen a bit of that too, but I think his load is making it very hard to deal with things right now.

The forum has lost a good member, it's quality is diminished by his leaving.

Ji, I will miss your pictures, stories, and smiling face. Aloha friend.

That's an unfortunate loss. I was wondering why he wasn't posting much anymore. I'm guessing that I have missed a thread or two. Hopefully he will stop by now and again when he gets through all that he has going on right now.

Ji is a good fella. I'd like to get him to the mainland where we can get to him! He has been a real asset to the forum. I could not dissuade him. :(

That is really a shame. He always added a different point of view that was refreshing. He has had a run of bad luck and has been often in my prayers. All my best to him and he will continue in my prayers.

I always enjoyed Ji's posts and it really saddens me to see him go. I hope things get better for him and he rejoins us sometime soon.
I must have missed whatever made him decide to leave but I fervently hope it wasn't due to something I said.

I don't think that collectively, we're really that BAD a bunch here, so hopefully his 'offendability-index' just is temporarily low if he's got lots of other stuff hitting him right now.

Unfortunately, the times we pull away from others are sometimes the very times we need them to keep us going.

He'll have a heck of a time finding a more supportive and well-behaved bunch on any other website. "Leverguns" aren't just 'guns' - they symbolize an era and a philosophy to many of us, and are also well-made and elegant tools. They are used for ordinary outdoor activities of both practical and recreational type, but aren't the extreme best in terms of accuracy or power or firepower. Thus the forum attracts a combination of outdoors-loving people with a practical approach to life, and that down-to-earth environment we need more of. We sometimes get onery (not me, of course) and say stupid stuff, but that's just the human in us and you see that everywhere.

Indeed. I'll miss all his posts that had absolutely nothing to do with Leverguns. Such as fishing, boating, and who can forget Lucille. I'll miss you Ganjiro, hope you come back sometime.

Ji, I'm sorry to see you leave this forum. Your presence and posts always brought a smile to my face or touched my heart. As OI said --- piggies, sharp pointy things and ukes -- some of my fondest reading. And your character in the face of your personal tragedies, including the heavy loss of your parents is an inspiration to us all. My thoughts and prayers go with you. I hope your stop in here every now and again. You'll be missed.

I don't know you, Ji, but from what I've been able to glean from the other posters on here, I wish I had. I can sympathize with you about losing a friend--I lost one last week, and didn't find out about it until today--actually, about an hour ago as I type this. A good deer hunting buddy, who we in the camp thought had beaten his lung cancer. Your cat--I didn't become a cat person until we took in a rescue cat. I don't know how I, my wife, or our daughter would react if Oreo were taken from us. When my wife was making her final drive to get her master's a couple of years ago (before our daughter was born), Oreo allowed me to keep my sanity.

Sorry to have missed you, Ji.

Come on Ji, You don't have a sound reason for hitting the road just because I'm an idiot. :D Your a good dude and come from good stock, so please, don't stay away too long as the longer you stay away, the harder it is to come back. ------------------------Sixgun
