The most expensive levergun yet
Just sold for $450,000. Check it out .... http://www.cowanauctions.com/upcoming_d ... emId=69070 As far as I'm concerned, it never did a lick of work in its life and has no history. On the other hand, it is a nice piece of art.

cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Kirk - I'm with you. What a shame that it was never enjoyed by anyone!

I agree, but we can enjoy looking at it. Maybe that's all the original owner intended, then again why put all the working parts in it?

I hate to think about it being left at home during play time. Great googily moogily, look at that grip checkering.
Re: The most expensive levergun yet
That rifle is talking to me. It keeps saying will somebody please shoot me!

Re: The most expensive levergun yet
It's a beauty alright, IMO it would look even better with less checkering on the forearm

I have to say -- I've never liked the gold inlays
On the other hand - the engraving and checkering are simply outstanding.
I can't believe manufacturers haven't figured out a quality, cheap way to do this at the factory.

Mine is a close second. The forearm has 48 notches in it. Does that count as checkering. It is 33 WCF too!

it's like a beautiful girl, she doesn't need to be able to do anything, but just sit there and look good. and we'll spend our last dime on her. just the way it is.

Art yes. Gun no. A gun is/has been fired (more than proof).

Without the guts, it wouldn't be what it is. As it is, it will always have that tantalizing potential!Old Ironsights wrote:Art yes. Gun no. A gun is/has been fired (more than proof).

Have you hugged your rifle today?
