OT- Minor Gloat

Post by GANJIRO »

The last few days I stripped and refinished the stock on my Rossi single shot rifle, the butt stock was rather plain but the fore stock has spectacular tiger stripe grain like fine maple BUT I won't post pics until I get barrel back and peep sight installed, but that is not my gloat. On Gunbroker last week there was a auction for a new 20 gauge barrel and fore stock for a Rossi single shot- $39.00 including shipping starting bid. Got the okay from the boss (wife) to bid the minimum $39.00, if I win great, if not no biggie. Well I won, and the barrel/forestock arrived today, and to my great surprise it also included a factory soft short case for the broken down set. I am SO stoked I have a rifle/shotgun combo now! Can't wait to get the rifle together and post pics of the whole kit and kaboodle.

$39?!? Do you feel guilty about stealing it?

Congrats Ji - couldn't happen to a nicer fellow. I'm looking forward to the pictures too - but be sure to warn us, so we can have the drool rags ready! :D

Ji,

My ignorance is truly stupifying, I have absolutely NO IDEA what a "Rossi Single Shot" looks like! How dare you post such a thing w/o pics :!: What is a person supposed to do, when ALL I can see is a.... well.... gosh, I have nothing in my mental image library to compare it to :!:  8)

Looking forward to being enlightened. (You KNOW this site is visually motivated... why, if I saw one, I MIGHT want one.... oh darn, hold the phone, there's still leverguns in waiting... Maybe I DON'T wanna see one!)

Go you! You can actually find some deals if you wade through the high priced stuff on there.

Nothing is as sweet as a 20 ga. single shot. As close to an all around do everything gun as there ever was. The trouble is there's just no sexappeal to it. Just a plain jane geterdone gun.
The old trappers in the fur trade were known for carrying "trade rifles" which were .62 cal. smoothies. I don't think anyone ever came closer to living by the gun than they did.

Way to go Ji!

Shortened the barrel to 16.25", refinished the stock, adding a peep sight. This is a "before" picture.
