Bringing my brother into the light

Post by pharmseller »

A couple of months ago I turned my nephews on to the wonders of my Marlin 1894C and pre-safety Interarms Rossi 92. The boys (16 and 17 years old) had a blast.
Yesterday my dad and I met my brother at the local range. I brought both carbines and 400 rounds of 357 and 38 spec. The Marlin wears a Leupold M8-6x scope and the Rossi has the original sights.
We had a great time! The range has a remote-resettable (pull on a rope) line of metal plates as well as paper targets. We went through almost all the ammo.
My dad grew up with a Winchester 1894 in 30WCF, so he has a lot of experience with levers. My brother, alas, was virginal. At the end of the day he asked me, "So, how much do these cost? I gotta get one!" He preferred the Marlin over the Rossi.
So I think I've recruited another shooter to the world of levers. He kept commenting on how much fun it was to blast away with the 357s. Shooting the 22's is okay, but not near as satisfying as the boom of the bigger rounds. And, at the end of the day, no shoulder pain!
Score one for us. Maybe he'll buy three and include the boys.

Well then - wait until he gets to the 45-70. He'll really get a charge out of that.
