OT: Sheridan Streak

Post by Blaine »

Recently got a Sheridan Silver Streak from a Formite. Nice Rifle! Hit's hard and is accurate. Question: If you pump it up, how long will it hold that pressure close to 100%? AND, is it even advisable to keep it pumped up, without discharging, for periods of time (hours? days? etc)

A Benjaman/Sheridan should always be kept stored with one pump in it. It has to do with the valve seat but I'm not sure of the particulars of why other than that. That is the information you'll get from Mac1 airguns and they work on them so they should know.
As to how long it will hold 100% I don't know I never let mine sit more than a few days.

Blaine, IIRC you're supposed to leave a pump or two in them when storing them. Double check that, but I'm pretty sure it's the Sheridan's that require such storage. I can't help you on how long you can leave them pumped. Also, I think it's something like "MAC Airguns" or some such that does some slicking up of the Sheridan, giving it a boost in power and such. They're neat rifles, wish I had one. :-) Although I'd actually rather have the Benjamin in 22 or 177 caliber since the 20 is non-existent down here.

Good Lord here we go again. I have another levergun on the way and now this place will tune up the Sheridan.(more Power)!!! I have the Sheridan I bought in '68 for $36.00. I can't even think how much abuse I heaped on it as a Kid. Mo Money. :) .Jim.
