OT Wheels
I'm feeling like a little kid on Christmas morning boys. I've been looking to down size my transportation for several months. That big ol' Dodge Ram was wearing me out at 10 mpg, and I couldn't really justify the need for a full size truck anymore. I work for a new car dealer and last weekend they got this little fella in on trade. It's a '07 with 18K miles, newer than I was really wanting, but they made me a smokin' deal on it. It's the newest vehicle I've had in over 20 years!

The extended cab ranges are good trucks. I used one for my work vehicle for years. It finally started to age and traded up to an F250 with a V-10. Fortunately, it died just before gas prices took off and switched to a V-6. But I sure miss the Ranger.

Re: OT Wheels
Nice, I WANT a truck but the pocket book says keep what I have, a '01 Toyota Four-runner that just today hit 132,000 miles.
Re: OT Wheels
Yea, a bed is nice. But if you're waiting for that Toyota to die, you've done put about half the miles you need to on the engine. Those things seem to just run and run.dkmlever wrote:Nice, I WANT a truck but the pocket book says keep what I have, a '01 Toyota Four-runner that just today hit 132,000 miles.

Re: OT Wheels
Nice wheels!
I have a 2wd, V6 for a company vehicle. Little bugger really goes.
Hoping I can talk the Boss into a 4WD next year.
My Durango spends most of it's time sitting in my driveway.

I approve, here's mine <G>. It's a n '01 4x4, pic was taken at Moab a few years ago. I get 18-20 mpg, sometimes 21-22 on a long trip.Old Savage wrote:22 mpg overall.

Re: OT Wheels
Wish my old Toyota would get even 20 MPG! I average around 16-18 MPG, and haven't broken the 20MPG mark in probably 10 years. Mine is 25 years old, but only has 166,000 miles, so it's still running good, but looking pretty tired from oxidation sitting outside for 25 years! I will probably replace it in 20 months when I retire, but not with a new one. Probably something around 2 yrs old, and less than 25,000 miles.

Where is Apollo Park? Does it have anything to do with the Apollo (Moon Landing) program?Old Savage wrote:Warhawk, that is Apollo Park in the background of my picture.

Does it have the 3.4 V6? Mine is getting a little long in the tooth with 145K on it. I know it'll last a long while yet, but it's semi retired and only gets used for hunting and fishing or the occasional hauling job. The '01 Double Cab 4x4s all have the same drivetrain, 3.4 V6 and the automatic tranny. It's my fifth Toyota pickup and I don't forsee buying anything else.
I have a Lexus car too, but I miss driving a pickup. I'd buy one of the 2WD Tacomas like yours if I could find one. Most around here are the Pre-Runner, kind of a counterfeit 4x4.

Re: OT Wheels
I'd look hard at the Tacomas up to the 2004 model. '05 is when they got bigger, and have a plastic bed floor.marlinman93 wrote:Wish my old Toyota would get even 20 MPG! Re: OT Wheels
Warhawk,
Apollo Park is on Ave G about 50th West by Fox Field - they used to have a part of one of the space capsules there.
My truck has the 2.4 liter 4 cyl. I don't think that is available now.

Re: OT Wheels
Thanks Warhawk, that picture was taken the day after I bought the truck over 4 years ago.The tires came in handy when I had to travel over broken glass and fallen tree limbs just minutes after the 2007 Tornado missed the Hospital I work at by less than a block.(In Enterprise,Alabama-all the paver stones on the roof of the hospital took out the many impact glass panes on the building as well as every vehicle within 25 yards of the hospital.I was "lucky"in that I arrived 15 minutes after touchdown). The truck got through the Debris mess without a hiccup.Beside hunting I bought that truck so I can evacuate due to hurricane damage as necessary.

That truck is like one a friend of mine had that we did a lot of hunting in - very well balanced and agile. We hunted from Calif to Wyoming.

My son's '98 Tacoma 4x4 has the 2.7L 4 cylinder and automatic transmission. It's got some big goodyear mudgrips on it, and he still gets about 24 mpg on the highway.

But DuffLBag, when do YOU get to drive it?
I just took my newest set of wheels up to Joplin last Monday to go back to work, averaged 17.2 mpg and had plenty of room for everything and other stuff I didn't need.

I just don't give a stuff anymore about gas mileage---at the way this country is going, gas, lead, coffee, guns, ammo, free thinking, capitalism, and "things-for-me" (socialism wants you to think "for the good of everyone") will most likely be outlawed in the next few years, so I'm gonna have a blast in the meantime.---------Sixgun

That's awful clean looking. Ever get the bottom side dirty? I have a red (well sorta, it's faded) CJ-8. It will never be that pretty again, but they sure are fun aren't they?Sixgun wrote:'05 Jeep Rubicon
