OT: My Ruger Single Actions

Post by O.S.O.K. »

All of these posts about Vaqueros and such made me think of this picture of my Ruger SA's - thought I'd share it.

Image

Top to bottom, left to right: Super BH Hunter .44 Mag, Super BH .44 Mag, Vaquero 45 Colt SS, Vaquero 45 Colt Blued, Single Six and Bearcat .22's.

Those two Vaqueros have seen many thousands of rounds go down range in CAS matches.

I have yet to take anything with the SBH hunter .44 - as its the newest of the bunch and I just haven't had the time to take it hunting.

Needless to say, I like Sturm Ruger's product. :)

Anybody else that has a collection pic of their SA's please add it to the thread! I know there are some big spreads out there... ;)

The others were copperheads. CCI shotshells - with #12 rat shot - very effective at 5-6 feet...

Great batch of firearms. Ruger does make a heck of a six shooter. I can't think of anything that goes better together then a "Lever Action Rifle backed up by two Ruger Six Shooters" :D

My name is Chris and I too have a problem:

Image

Top Security Six was my Dad's personal carry gun for about 30 years. The bottom pistola was my Uncle's...bought it new in 1961. It is actually a Flat Top but the mirror top is reflecting off the blanket and it just looks like it has sight ears. These two are my prize handguns...still can't believe that I have them. The SBH is my second that I bought when I got out of the Army in 1989. My first was bought when I was 16 from my paper route money(my mom signed for me), but I foolishly sold it. This is my 3rd Single Six and will never get rid of this one. It is accurate and the b/c gap is so tight there is almost no blast.

Rugers are the best sixgun that was ever made. (and I have more Colts and S&W's) If I was ever to be dropped in the wilderness with only one handgun, it would be a NM Ruger :D A buddy of mine has 150 OM's with many in the single digit serial number range

The below Rugers are 44 cal. flattops representing 3 different barrel lengths---------------Sixgun

NM Blackhawk .45lc on top, and an Old Army on the bottom. Both are 7.5" blued/walnut.

I would like to get a SBHH in .45 but to be honest it really isn't going to help my shooting anymore than the one I have already. :?

I don't have a collection, but I do like my Bisley Vaqueros:

Image

I do prefer the look of the unfluted cylinder, however:

Image

These two Vaqueros are in .38/.357. I also used to have one in .44 spcl/mag:

Image

but because I have such a great brother, I was able to "exchange" it for a custom Gary Reeder SBH in .44 spl/mag:

Thanks Bro!! :D

Well,
I see that in addition to the levergun disease, we all have that Ruger disease also. I bet if we dug deeper, we would see a lot of S&W & Colt addicts also. :D Thats OK, its better than hanging out in the bar and watching some stupid sports game.

Gun collecting is really easy and not as expensive as one may think but................you have to start young, keep your mind "tuned in" to gun shows, auctions (my favorite), advertisements, and other peoples guns when they need a fix for one thing or another. :D Most of all, you have to read, read, read, and then read some more along with digesting everything you read.

In fact, I'm gonna stop here and do a post in the next several days to teach the people here who do not know how to snag nice guns on how to snag 'em----------cheap.-----------Sixgun
