If you could shoot any firearm...
... ever made - any particular make, model, or a specific historical firearm, what would it be?
The possibilities are endless. The first Henry, or 1866, or 1873. Wild Bill Hickock's 1851's. TR's "Big Medicine". Any M134 Dillon Aero... of course, someone else would have to pay to feed the last one!
I still need to think this one through some more - and I'm sure you guys will give me all kinds of fodder for daydreamin'...

I grew up reading Elmer Keith, so it would probably be one of his, #5 or Smith I dont care.
But for pure fun I would like to shoot junk cars with one of the newer tanks.

Pretty esay for me. A Gatling gun, specially if i could keep the brass afterwards
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I have shot posiedon and trident missiles from a submarine, as well as torpedos. but I wish I could have shot my grandfathers shotgun with him, in hunting some upland game. By the time it got handed down to me, it was not shootable at all.

good topic
I've never shot a sharps or a trapdoor, I'd like to do that. And I'd like to shoot a gatling gun, the hand crank variety.
there are almost no guns I wouldn't like to shoot a time or two, but those three have a special call

Living in Dear Old England where handguns are very difficult to get unless you're a drug dealer or suchlike, I'd like to fire any centrefire revolver I could get my hands on, I'd even enjoy shootin' one of them semi auto contraptions as long as it was made by Colt!

I've run out of shooting the guns of my dreams. I have shot every gun ever made, even YOURS (yea, I know I'm a tart)
Seriously, think about this for a money maker---Lets pretend you owned Elmer Keith's #5, the Spencer that Abe Lincoln shot on the White House lawn, Teddy's .405, or even one of my OM Rugers . You could travel the US, advertise in newspapers and offer people to shoot these guns for $5 a shot. It would bring in millions and all cccccaaaaaaaasssssshhhhhhh. ------Sixgun

1) Davey Crocketts OLD BETSY
2) The dueling pistols that Lafayette gave to George Washington at Valley Forge, then George Washington's relatives gave to Andrew Jackson. Later after Jackson had been president, Lafayette as an old man visited him. Jackson showed him the pistols and Lafayette instantly recognized them as his gift to General Washington. I saw these at Jackson's home, the Hermitage. I just stared at them for the longest time, drinking in the history.
3) Maybe the M-1 Carbine that Audie Murphy was using before jumping up on the tank destroyer and using the .50BMG to such good effect during his CMH action. My father was also 3rd Infantry Division WW2 and Audie Murphy was a hallowed name at our household, along with many other 3ID heroes.
By the way, great idea for a thread!! I've enjoyed the posts.

jhrosier ans mescalero1, many many thanks for your kind offers, I'm saving for a vacation in the States and it sure would be good to meet some fellow levergunners!
Last time we were in Arizona we had a tight schedule to keep. I met some really good people and unfortunately had to turn down offers of site seeing ghost towns etc.
We travelled from Bisbee up as far as Southern Utah, best time I have ever had in my life.
To keep on topic another gun I'd love to shoot is JWs big loop 92 from "Stage Coach".
The western that really got me hooked big time when I was just a kid.

game keeper,
The offer is good over here too if you enter the occupied zone here in Northern Kalifornia. Just give me a heads up before you get here and you can shoot anything I have in the safe. You have to experience as much variety as you can while you're here and I'm sure fellow levergunners are the kind of folks that can make your trip worthwhile.

Not to hijack my own post (but since I do this to everyone else ), I'm thinking GK needs to plan a coast-to-coast visit here in the USA. In fact, he could plan to visit a levergunner in every state. If he had the time, I bet it wouldn't cost too much, given all the willing hosts. Think of the guns he'd get to shoot along the way.

Come down to TX and I'll drag out some BP revolvers, some SAAs, and at least one DA and a couple of 1911s, in addition to some Winchester 94s! But, wait, you already know about those, how 'bout a Sharps & a M1 Garand? Not to mention a jalapeno burger at Joe Willie's! Then some good ol' Texas BBQ to quiet the riot!

I would really love to shoot the gun that my dad shot against the Germans/Italians in the top turret of the B24 Liberator Bomber that he flew 25 combat mission in as a 19-20 year old during WWII. I asked him one time if he was afraid on a mission.....he said everytime he flew......he was afraid he would be late to supper....
